After nights of insomnia, variate literature, interviews with great people … we’ve outlined the most important project of my life, TERESA (Technology Research for Social Advance)
Teresa used to be the name of my dear sister … an extraordinary down syndrome human being, that helped me to understand the true important lessons of life … and now is the name of an initiative that aims to leverage technology to provide a better future to people with some kind of mental handicap (>5% of population in countries like Spain)
Teresa is an initiative, incubated in Navarra (Spain), leveraging great partners (Tasubinsa, Fundación Ciganda Ferrer and Gobierno de Navarra), to use technology to train people, create new work opportunities and facilitate their day to day life
We have great ideas, commitment and passion … but we need help from people and companies that are truly committed with our purpose
This powerpoint document discusses challenges in India's employment landscape and proposes solutions. It notes that only 16.3% of India's skill development plan was implemented, leading to 80% of the population being unemployable. It suggests improving education quality and relevance, developing soft skills, better matching candidates to jobs, and utilizing retired professionals and students as volunteers to provide training. A proposed volunteer program would have central and district management overseeing the training of an estimated 500 million volunteers to develop skills needed by industry. Challenges include funding, changing mindsets, volunteer involvement, placement, and curriculum relevance.
Bangladesh has successfully grown its IT sector through targeted government initiatives and investments over the past decade. The government set a goal to make Bangladesh digital and invested $1 billion over 5 years in IT training, attracting companies, and helping entrepreneurs. This created high-paying IT jobs and attracted foreign investment and expat professionals back to Bangladesh. Similar initiatives in Nigeria could help it become a leading source of IT talent and services for other countries. The government could provide funding and support for training programs, startups, and helping companies recruit and train fresh graduates to build experience. Bangladesh's growth shows that with the right nursing, Nigeria's young talent could achieve similar success.

Building good software is difficult, especially when there are competing priorities on craftsmanship and time to market. There is no magic bullet for achieving excellence, it requires focus and continuous improvement to make it sustainable. In this talk, Shalini will share how an engineering team at LinkedIn built world-class technology foundations across availability, product quality, and developer productivity.
Dave Karow, Split. Powering Progressive Delivery With DataIT Arena
Dave has three decades of experience in developer tools, developer communities, and evangelizing sustainable software delivery practices. He has held programming, product management, and product marketing roles at Sun Microsystems, Gupta Technologies, Remedy Software, Marimba, Keynote Systems (Dynatrace), SOASTA, and BlazeMeter. Dave’s current passion is demystifying progressive delivery, especially the ways it enables better outcomes by removing constraints and building-in feedback loops.
Speech Overview:
We build pipelines to automate processes and minimize human toil. Have you applied this same approach to how you expose new features to users and measure the impact? Progressive delivery may be relatively new as a term, but the underlying practices of progressive experimentation (where features are gradually rolled out to users and statistical engines are used to detect impact during the rollout instead of after) are not.
We’ll discuss the layers, and benefits, from the foundation up.
