This document provides examples for converting between pounds and pence by: 1) Converting different coin amounts (e.g. 50p + 50p) to their pound equivalent (e.g. £1). 2) Adding together coin amounts and writing the total in pounds and pence format (e.g. 126p = £1.26). 3) Adding together amounts of money provided in pounds and pence to find the total amount (e.g. £1.26 + 82p = £2.08).

How many pence are there? 50p + 50p + 50p + 50p = 200p
How many pounds are in 200p? £2 = 200p

4. What is the total value of the coins?
Find the groups of £1(or 100p) to help you out.
How many whole pounds are there? (50p + 50p= 100p or £1)
How many pence are left? (20p + 5p + 1p = 26p)
So the total value of coins: 126p or £1 and 26p.
It can be written as: £1.26
