2. Video camera
This is the video camera which we used to
record our footage. It is very simple to use
and produced good quality recordings.

3. Tripod
We used a tripod for our
filming so that our footage
was steady, as we didn’t want
our trailer to appear wobbly.
This improved the quality of
our footage.

4. Lanterns & lamps
We used these lanterns in our trailer (in
the conservatory scene) with burning
candles in, to create an eary
atmosphere. The lanterns have a sense
of horror as they are metal and dark,
and have purple and red colours, which
is in keeping with our horror genre.
The lamp which we had lit in the
conservatory is tall and is in keeping
with the idea of our inmates being
trapped because of its shape and
structure (this idea is also represented
in the glass conservatory and the blinds
which appear like metal bars, making it
look even harder for the characters to
escape).

5. Knife
We used a knife in our trailer which gives
the audience the idea that people are
going to be killed in the film, however
because it’s a trailer, the audience do not
find out if this happens. Therefore
making them intrigued and wanting to
watch the film (which is the primary
purpose of the genre). The knife is silver
and metal which could represent a sense
of power and destruction, therefore
representing Anna’s control in the
situation.

6. Fake blood
The fake blood was used in our trailer to
maintain the horror theme, and to make the
audience feel scared and distressed. Blood
is something audiences stereotypically feel
concerned by, and causes them to feel panic
and provides a sense of danger. The colour
of the blood which is red, has connotations
of the devil, danger, and hatred. This
represents Anna’s actions.

7. TV & film
In the background of our filming (in the
conservatory scene where they are watching
TV), we used the film The Dark Night, to
create an ambient sound. We used this film
because it sounds very tense and dramatic,
which added to the atmosphere in the room
because it was playing in the background.

8. iPhone
We used an iPhone to represent the age group as
it is relevant and appropriate for teenagers and
for the target audience. This phone also allowed
us to show the message which is sent from Anna
clearly.
