Store Electronic Systems (SES) was awarded a Silver Medal for Innovation at the Equipmag 2014 trade show for its Product Positioning System (PPS). PPS is a geo-location solution that accurately pinpoints product locations in a store using electronic shelf labels. SES invests significantly in R&D each year to integrate new technologies into its electronic shelf labeling systems. PPS builds on SES' existing NFC electronic label technology to provide additional applications like geo-localized shopping lists and real-time planogram updates with no additional costs. The award recognizes SES' leadership in developing technologies for connected stores.

KATANA: Emerging industries as key enablers for the adoption of advanced tech...H2020KATANA
KATANA is one out of five European INNOSUP-1-2015 – Cluster facilitated projects for new value chains projects (funded under EC Call for proposal: H2020-INNOSUP-2015-1).
The project started on 1st of July 2016 and will distribute in total 1.2 million euros to European start-ups and SMEs and empower acceleration of new cutting edge tech in agribusiness.
14 partners from 8 European countries (led by bwcon GmbH from Germany) teamed up to value innovative ideas of start-ups and SMEs and introduces easy-to-join procedures to market trendsetters.
KATANA supports European SMEs and start-ups in the agrifood value chain to access knowledge, technology, capital and markets in order to respond to the global competitive environment. KATANA provides this access by leveraging the multiplier potential of cross-border/cross-sectoral collaboration, and with its systemic approach, which homogenizes services towards the overall aim to place new products/ services in the market.
TECHNOLOGY:
KATANA provides 3 technology platforms:
Marketplace for Precision Agriculture Services;
Platform for exploiting IoT to reach consumers and
Toolbox for the design of functional foods (recipes and processes).
These technological enablers are open collaboration spaces and they empower start-ups and SMEs to co-create and test services but also to jointly develop novel business models across the value chain.
In the course of KATANA use of platforms is totally free of charge for all KATANA beneficiaries.
Benefit from the flexibility of these platforms and grasp unlimited possibilities their open and modular design provides!
GET FUNDED:
KATANA is a perfect opportunity for start-ups and SMEs coming from agrifood value chain, ICT sector and emerging industries to team up with other partners from other sector and/or other countries and opt for the rich portfolio of services and direct funding KATANA team offers.
Starting from the first Open Call we will publish later this year (stay tuned on our social media channels and visit our website regularly), start-ups and SMEs (even teams of individuals in this first phase) will be given the opportunity to present who they are and how the think (in a format of 2-minutes video pitch) and participate in community-driven peer-to-peer evaluation that will bring the best 100 European teams (who will be financially supported with 2K Eur each for traveling, finding partners for the next phase and attending our bootcamp in Stuttgart) who enter the next phase and form consortia that prepare reward crowdfunding campaigns (that is actually KATANA second Open Call).
The best 10 SME consortia in respect to their reward crowdfunding performance win additional 100K Eur of direct funding each from KATANA

In the wake of massive numbers of security breaches in 2014, enterprises are struggling to improve how they consume threat intelligence to better protect their networks. Over 65% of companies use external threat intelligence as part of their security analytics, but are dissatisfied with the time and resources needed to understand and analyze the data available. With a barrage of information coming in to your organization on vulnerabilities, malware, and potentially malicious sites on the Internet, how can you truly make sense of the data and take action when it’s required?
During this presentation, you will learn how your enterprise can quickly research threats, integrate actionable intelligence and collaborate with peers using global threat intelligence.

Press Release Paris, Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Store Electronic Systems (SES) awarded a prize by
EQUIPMAG's Innovation jury
Store Electronic Systems, the world leader in electronic shelf labeling systems (ESL)
for food and non-food retailers, has been awarded the Silver Medal for Innovation at the
Equipmag 2014 show, which took place in Paris from September 16 to 18, 2014. The jury,
composed of industry experts, distinguished from among the many candidates SES' "Product
Positioning System" (PPS), a geo-location solution accurately pinpointing the location of items
in the store.
This trophy rewards SES' efforts which every year invests a very significant share of its sales
in R&D designed to integrate new technologies and provide its customers with new services.
In just a few years, the company has become the leader of the connected store thanks in
particular to its interactive electronic NFC label, several million of which have been sold since
its launch (GOLD endorsement by the previous jury in September 2012). These same labels
now constitute an accurate geo-referencing network of products in the store.
The Product Positioning System solution has a marginal cost and requires no operational
change. Indeed, in the standard ESL management process additional information is simply
recorded: the address and the relative position of the labels in relation to each other. The whole
of the planogram is thus continuously updated requiring no particular effort, allowing multiple
applications for the retailer, the store, the consumer and the brands. This is therefore a new
value-added for ESLs, an important incremental and promising ROI, with no additional
investment. The Product Positioning System also ensures consumers can easily and
accurately locate the products in their shopping lists thanks to this new embedded geolocation
function in the retailer's mobile application.
The Product Positioning System technology, developed by SES, continues on from the launch
of the G-tag+ NFC (already given a gold award by Equipmag in 2012) and builds on this
technological base with an unlimited potential for applications.
SES is presenting the Product Positioning System to Equipmag on stand N46 as well as in the
Echangeur's Retail Lab 2020 space. To better understand and discover this innovation, the
following demonstrations are available:

Press Release Paris, Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Philippe Bottine, Technical and Industrialization Director of Store Electronic Systems
stated: "We are very happy about receiving this prize which rewards a business strategy firmly
directed at innovation. The announcement of the NFC iPhone 6 on September 9 firmly fixes
NFC as the contactless technology of proximity and validates the strategic choices made 2
years ago by SES. This wave of products heralds the era of the connected store and many
interactive shelf applications for consumers. SES has gained a decisive advance in this new
market. By the end of 2014, we will have sold nearly 10 million G-tag+ NFC and equipped
1,000 stores ready to deploy a whole host of applications including self-scanning / tap and go”.
