and that wasverycomfortable. The airwasmuch cleaner,yeahImeanit,you could
‘breathe’the difference.

A. Well,the bestmomentwasdefinitelydrinkingcoffeeinanopencafeteria,lookingatthe
wonderful viewof SydneyDarlingHarbor.There weren’tanybadmomentsIcouldthink
of,I guessthat’swhypeople sayyouonlyrememberthe goodstuff,although
sometimesI dohate the train systeminSydney.

 Recycle as much as possible

3. Recyclingisone of the easieststrategiestodo.Fromglassware toplasticcups,everythingcanbe
recycledjustthroughlittle organization. Itwasa veryeasyjob to do,justkeepinmindof a few
thingswhenyoubuyanything:isitoverpackaged,can it be recycledeasily,isthere anyother
similarproductsthatusespackagesthat can be reused.Also,beforerecycling,the colourof the
recyclingbinsshouldbe checked,however,the recyclingbinsinpublicspace shouldbe labeled.
Throughrecycling,1.58 tonesof CO2 were deducted.Thisshowshow easilyindividualscanhelp
reduce the carbon emissionintheircountryandhelptackle climate change.
Question4(Part 2):
One of the waysthat wassuggestedtoreduce carbonfootprintwasto lowerthe thermostatof
the air conditioningunitdownone degree Celsius.Thiswascoupledwithconsciouslyturning
downoff the air conditioningwhenthere wasnobodyinthe room.Thisactionmeantwe were
usingaround5% lessheat,andthus reducingourcarbon footprint.
Anothermethodthatourhouseholdundertooktodowas to refrainfromusingthe dryer.
Insteadof doingthis,we hangour clothesupon the clothesline,orhangthemupinside aswell.
Usingthe clothesline asopposedtoourdryermeanswe’ve savedheapsonpowerandenergy
usage.
Whenit comesto travelling,usingthe carlesstoremove a carbon footprintwassomethingthat
was extremelydifficulttodeal withatfirstas I foundthatI oftenrelyonmy car quite heavilyto
getaround.Howeveronce I realisedthatforcertainshorttrips,I couldeitherwalkorride my
bike,Isavedmoneyinnothavingbuyfuel as well asreducingmycarbonfootprintthrough
emissions.
The final stepthat I undertooktoreduce mycarbon footprintwastoturn downthe water
heatingsetting.Thiswasinitiallyalittle weirdtodeal withbutpracticallyitmade verylittle
difference.The showerwatertooka little bitlongertogetwarmerandthe processtoget the
temperature rightwasslightlydifferent.Butitwasworthwhile knowingthatI wastakingan
extremelypractical measure toreduce mycarbonfootprintandsave emissions.

Question 5
A) I chose the ‘indie’ genre as i usually don’t listen to it unless it’s become a very
mainstream song. However i looked through all the genres and found a large amount
of artists overlapped into multiple genres so I decided to choose one of these artists.
B) It used to be called “indie” as it was independent artists within large companies, but
the genre has grown so much it now simply refers to the unique, raw, less polished
sound that these artists tend to use to differentiate from more pop and rock songs.

6. Indie is also used sometime to refer to a sub-section within a genre eg: indie rock,
indie folk etc…
C) I chose the artist ‘Golden Features’ as his cover art seemed intriguing and upon
reading his short biography, learned he is a fairly new artist, about to drop into the
live scene of music and jump start his career. He already has out 1 ep and is about
to release another. He likes to create his music with the contrast between light and
dark, creating a new feel to music which has generated many positive reviews.
D) Indie music started in the 60’s, with bands playing in their garages and local parties.
However, it started growing in the 80’s when independent record labels decided to
throw everything into the indie genre. At this time, people thought it was just an
alternative version of rock music. People had a hugely positive reaction, and it has
only grown from there. Larger record companies are beginning to embrace the indie
culture, and release music from independent artists themselves, allowing a wider
audience to embrace indie music. Also due to growing technology, more and more
people are being introduced to the indie culture, from other people’s
recommendations and the internets growing influence on society.
