This presentation is an exploration into why companies that invest in user experience (UX) design have better customer experience (CX) outcomes and how the resulting overall brand experience (BX) builds the value of the brand. Today, more than at any other time, it is becoming increasingly clear there a strong link between designing for experience and the resulting value to its respective brand.
Although design is often difficult to define and measure, the correlation between design investment and its resulting, extraordinary stock performance is undeniable. So, what is UX and how does it affect the CX, which in turn affects the brand BX? The difference between a customer and a user for a product is a subtle but important one, but one that business stakeholders need to keep in mind.
In this presentation, we will explore the differences between the user, customer and resulting brand experience and its correlation to one another. We will present tangible results from companies who invested in design, believed in its value and succeeded.

Any football fan will tell you: the plays they run in high school would never cut it in the NFL. At the highest levels of the sport, playbooks are tailored to the skills of athletes who run faster, hit harder, kick longer, and throw with precision.
Designing software for expert users is no different. If you call your plays from the same UX playbook that you use for consumer apps, you will get creamed on the field.
Veteran interaction designers Alan Baumgarten and Ben Judy will share examples and show you the plays that can help you score and maybe even win when you face the humbling challenge of designing for highly trained professionals who use software.
Along the way you will discover the essential plays that must be in your Pro UX playbook if you hope to compete at this level. You will also learn a few boneheaded moves--used by most UX professionals--that will knock you to the turf faster than an All-Pro linebacker.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

16. Design Thinking Workshop Outcomes
• Overall high level requirements.
• Prioritization based on value. Ex. Sales apps have more value than backoffice apps.
• Weighted matrix w/ Technical feasibility, returns(Value), cost, etc.
• Wireframes – Iterate, test, and incorporate feedback.

• 3 types of users:
• Executives – Tablet users
• Employees/Customers – any smartphone/tablet.
• Field workers who use rugged devices.
• Providing your own devices is expensive and need to budget for maintenance.
• BYOD needs strict policies to secure and manage devices and Data.
• Ruggedizing is another cheaper alternative.
19. Rugged Device Strategy
• Expensive but durable.
• Capabilities: Credit card reader, high duty bar code scanner, compliance with
industry regulations, long battery life, etc.

• Privacy policies, usage policies need to be in place.
23. Buy vs Build: Buying Off the shelf apps
PROs:

solution offering.
24. Buy vs Build: Building the apps
PROs:
• Tailor made custom apps
CONs:
• Take enormous amounts of time and
resources to build 20+apps.

CAPRIZA Could be a potential platform to alleviate many of
the Build issues.
25. Buy vs Build: Our recommendation
Research the solution providers with a comprehensive strategy towards
Enterprise Mobility.
You need a full suite of apps, services for a quick journey towards Digital
Transformation.
Take a holistic enterprise wide look.
26. Native vs Hybrid vs HTML5
Native Apps:
• Native apps offers the ultimate UX.
• Is appropriate for any scenario but
are too expensive to build, maintain
across platforms.
• For cross platform apps, Xamarin is
a best fit.
• Leverages all device functionality.
Scenarios:
Offline apps
Consumer facing apps.
Revenue generating ecommerce
apps.
UX, branding and reputation are key.
27. Hybrid Apps
• Balances between Native and
HTML5 apps in functionality,
development time, and costs.
• No compromise on leveraging
device features.
• But UX is not as smooth as Native
apps.
Scenarios:
• UX is not critical.
• One set of code to serve all major
platforms.
• Could support offline apps as well.
Native vs Hybrid vs HTML5
28. HTML5 apps
• Supports online only scenarios.
• UX is not as great as Native apps.
• Supports 70% to 80% of the use-
cases.
Scenarios:
• Internal Employee facing
Productivity apps, transactional
apps.
• Examples: HR, Finance and
Customer support apps.
