This document describes a GSM-based wireless notice board project. The system allows users to send SMS messages from mobile phones that will be displayed on an electronic notice board. It uses a SIM900 GSM modem connected to an ARM7 microcontroller via a MAX232 level shifter. The microcontroller receives messages via AT commands and displays them on an LED screen. Response time analysis of mixed messages in CANIJERA Editor
Controller Area Network (CAN) is a network protocol that allows multiple processors in a system to
communicate efficiently with each other. Microprocessors became small enough and powerful enough to start
appearing everywhere, not just inside personal computers. A CAN system sends messages using a serial bus
network, with the individual nodes (processors) in the network linked together in a daisy chain. Every node in
the system is equal to every other node. Any processor can send a message to any other processor, and if any
processor fails, the other systems in the machine will continue to work properly and communicate with each
other.In modern vehicle technology CAN is used to reduce point to point wiring harness for vehicle automation
and for data communication. To overcome the drawbacks of analog vehicle driving interface, this paper presents
the development and implementation of a digital driving system for a semi-autonomous vehicle to improve the
driver-vehicle interface. This offers increased flexibility and expandability. This system uses sensors to
measure temperature, distance from the other car, presence of alcohol in car, position monitoring, theft
monitoring and etc., and sends a warning signal to the driver if any of the parameter goes out of range to avoid
accidents. In addition to this if accident occurs in any remote area then using vibration sensor, accident is
detected and SMS is send immediately using GSM and preventing him from potentially getting into a serious
problems.
GSM BASED PREPAID ENERGY METER BILLING VIA SMSSRINIVAS REDDY
The project is designed for reading electrical energy consumed in units and in rupees to display on an LCD screen to the user. This data is also provided to the electrical department using GSM technology for billing purposes. Owing to high electricity cost these days it becomes necessary for the consumer to know as to how much electricity is consumed to control electricity bill within his budget by recharging the energy meter units via S.M.S .
Finally when the energy meter coming to zero user can again recharge according to the purpose used. In this proposed system, the consumer will get his energy consumption data on real time basis on a LCD display. The same data is sent through GSM modem to the electricity department via SMS. A microcontroller of 8051 family is interfaced to the energy meter to get the Watt Hour pulses.
Further this project can be enhanced by to control the electrical appliances remotely via SMS. Also, the electricity department can send the monthly bill amount over SMS to the receiving unit for consumer information.
Prepaid energy meter using GSM is used to record consumed units and send an alert to user via GSM. It is used to reduce power theft in commercial areas.

3. AIM OF THE PROJECT
Notice Board is primary thing in any
institution or organization or public utility places
like bus stations, railway stations and parks. But
sticking various notices day-to-day is a difficult
process.
4. INTRODUCTION
It presents an SMS based notice board incorporating the widely used GSM to
facilitate the communication of displaying message on notice board via user’s
mobile phone.
SIM900 GSM modem with a SIM card is interfaced to the ports of the
microcontroller with the help of AT commands.
SIM900 is duly interfaced through a level shifter IC MAX232 to the
microcontroller. The messaged is thus fetched into the microcontroller.
It is further displayed on an electronic notice board which equipped with LED
display interfaced to microprocessor powered by a regulated power supply
from mains supply of 230 volts ac.
6. GSM Modem
GSM modem is the Data Communicating Equipment which is connected to terminal equipment
for data transmission and reception.
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication
SIM stands for Subscriber identity Module
GSM modem is controlled using AT commands
AT stands for Attention

11. MAX 232 IC
MAX 232 that converts signals from an RS-232
serial port to signals suitable for use in TTL
compatible digital logic circuits.
The MAX 232 is a dual driver/receiver and
typically converts the RX, TX CTS and RTS
signals.
It changes a TTL Logic 0 to between +3 and +15
V, and changes TTL logic 1 to between -3 to -
15V, and vice versa for converting from RS232 to
TTL.
