Engage 2013, SXSWedu, Chris Dede, How Immersion in Virtual Worlds Helps Stude...Cengage Learning
Chris Dede, Harvard University
Games set in virtual worlds pervade the lives of college students, and the entertainment industry is
now developing augmented realities delivered via mobile devices. When used for education, these
immersive environments have many capabilities that can promote student engagement and academic
tenacity. This session uses specific examples from pre-college ecosystems science to show how faculty
in all fields can use these new media to improve teaching and assessment.
Chris Dede is the Timothy E. Wirth Professor in Learning Technologies at Harvard’s Graduate
School of Education. His fields of scholarship include emerging technologies, policy, and
leadership. In 2007, he was honored by Harvard University as an outstanding teacher, and
in 2011 he was named a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association. His latest
book, Digital Teaching Platforms, was published in April 2012.
Problem Based Learning (K-12) – Web 2.0 is about revolutionary new ways of creating, collaborating,
editing and sharing user-generated content on line. It’s also about ease of use. There is no
need to download and teachers and students can master many of these tools in minutes.
Technology has never been easier or more accessible to all. See how you can
promote technology, create user generated content and collaborate with your staff
members and among students in your library.

A Mobile Information Management Framework Proposal for Development of Persona...Mehmet Emin Mutlu
In this study, a personal information management framework, in which the learner can save his/her personal learning experiences and simultaneously or later he/she can evaluate his/her integrated learning experiences with his/her other experiences a person has, will be offered. By using this approach users can manage their personal and professional development more efficiently.
An introduction to the series, ‘Learning in a Changing World’ will present an overview of each of the five books in the series. The potential of the books to inform, guide and educate education professionals will be considered in regard to meeting the needs of 21st Century learners.

This presentation was created for the 2012 ICTEV Annual State Conference: Creative Connections. It suggests some tools that can be used to make science learning more creative in the middle years.
Committees within the Teaching & Learning course in Fall 2011 met and developed ideas about productive uses of Second Life and virtual locations for K12 clss
NETS Reloaded: National Education Technology StandardsSusan Labadi
NETS Reloaded is from a follow up visit to a school who contracted for professional development with teachers who were resistant to adopting the use of technology. The variety and attractiveness of these offerings led to a productive discussion whereby teachers decided to implement and expand their use of technology for a better educational experience and reported that they developed greater rapport with students.
This presentation attempts to place virtual worlds and immersive games within the larger metaverse, provide a look at the planning and pedagogy behind their use and then provides examples of pedagogy in action in virtual worlds. Let me know if you think it succeeded. If you plan to embed or use this at a presentation, please let me know in the comments.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
