Overview
• Commissioned in June 2015
• Implemented an energy storage system on a rural 20 kV
network in the vicinity of two decentralized wind farms (6 and 12
MW) to help stabilize the high voltage swings of the MV
substation
Business Need
• MV substation at the end of the transmission line was seeing
high voltage swings
Storage in the “Smart grid” – Venteea, France
Solution
• Two ES Box RT units (1 MVA each) were installed, along
with 2 MW /1.3 MWh Li-ion batteries from SAFT
• Specific monitoring and control system
Benefits
• Storage will be used as an ancillary service (frequency
regulation, renewable smoothing, peak shifting, electricity
rate optimization, etc.) production unit for several market
players: generator, Distribution System Operator, and
Transmission System Operator
