1. Emulating a Famous Photographer
Emulate means to imitate or to mirror. You will be selecting a famous
photographer from the following list, researching about that artist’s life and work,
and emulating one of their photos. You will put together a PowerPoint
presentation with your research, photos of the famous photographer’s work, and
your imitation of one of the artist’s photos.
Step 1: Fill out the “Learning about your photographer” document (found on
webdocs.limestone.on.ca in “School services” under “Mrs. Hurley’s Stuff” in the
“Media Arts” folder)
Step 2: Recreate one of your photographer’s famous photos. Select the best
photo you took and edit this photo to look like the original using the editing tools
you have learned over the past three weeks.
Step 3: Save all of the photos you took for this assignment and your final edited
image in a folder entitled “Famous Photographer”. It is important that I see the
creative process you followed to arrive at your final photograph. You should not
be editing and submitting the first photo you take.
Step 4: Create a PowerPoint presentation by filling in the template I have created
in Ms. Hurley’s Media Arts folder. (go to webdocs.limestone.on.ca > School
services> Mrs. Hurley’s Stuff > Media Arts)
This assignment is due Thursday, March 6, 2014.

Look at the work of these photographers and choose one photographer to focus
on. Each student must select a different artist to research and photograph.
There will be a sign up list on Mrs. Hurley’s desk.

Fill in this document and save it in your Media Arts folder within a folder called
“Famous Photographer” (you will be deducted marks for not saving files
according to these instructions!)
