would without them, and perhaps make a profit on the film.
Not only do Empire review films, they also review theatre performances, video games, CD’s
and many more media devices. But when films are reviewed by Empire, they have a
description of what the reviewers think of the film, and a ‘Star Rating’ scale which would help
anyone of any age decide whether they were going to view the film for their self.
As Empire use online facilities as well as on paper copies, there are many more
opportunities in which we could advertise our thriller within their company. There are a range
of advertising possibilities online including short film clips to be played when hovered over,
and pop-up windows which could entice viewers who may not usually click on a link for a
thriller. Leaflets, consistent screen shots throughout the magazine, and perhaps even a front

order to attract a wider range of viewers, and spread awareness that a new thriller has been

‘Forgotten’ is the most tense and intriguing thriller to be
brought out this year. Not only is the suspense built up by
the eerie score in the background, but the consistent
interrupting pictures of memories which appear on the
screen within the opening simply make you wonder, and
want to keep watching. From the very beginning it is clear
something is worrying the main character, however no
clues are given until the end of the opening sequence
when a passport is produced after a long search. Who is
the character? Are they going somewhere? What is their
past? The clever use of props within the opening
sequence make the audience wonder about her
surroundings, and ask questions which will later be
answered.
She is a dark character who seems to want to keep herself
to herself, and not let anyone in..but whether she does in
the end is for you to find out.
The film uses conventions of an ordinary thriller, however when the gender of the character
is revealed – a real twist is introduced.
Mary doesn’t know who she is at the beginning, or what’s happened to her. All she knows is
that she has to find a key to unlock a vague memory, and unleash her past life – but does
she want to do this?
The editing has been cleverly done, with clear but subtle changes to the lighting to reduce
the amount of clues that are able to be gathered about her surroundings.
The thriller is very recommendable to anyone of any age as nothing overly explicit occurs
within the film. The storyline is gripping and would make anyone want to watch on, even if
they are not usually a fan of thrillers.
