3. rethinking school to work transitions
• ….well we’re a bit old for that
• ….so broadening slightly – thinking about
work and the challenges
• we are a part of a research, innovation and
learning team inside a global non profit –
attempting to catalyze and support new ideas,
new ways of doing, new things to do etc.
• We are small but our work is BIG
4. the talking……
• An interview with an innovation advisor –
currently working globally – travelling all the
time meeting field teams, connecting, training
etc.
• The rest of the team is based in DC ….groan!
5. say…………………………………….
Confusion/frustrations
• If you keep running between things you aren’t being
creative – too busy doing other stuff
• I want to know what is coming next – what we will do
• We don’t take enough time to sit down and think about
what we are learning
• A lot of confusion
• I struggle with talking about ideas
• Distance is a challenge
• There are a million different projects
• I have a huge list where I collect the stuff but don’t have
time to go through it (info about new tools, ideas etc.)
6. say…………………………………….
I like
• Different people we interact with individually – I
see small changes
• When I did a Tumblr for my Asia trip I loved it – I
had a lot of fun
• I love blogging
• I like challenges – I get bored easily
• We are actually changing the way the
organization is working
7. say…………………………………….
I plan and think
• When I am in DC I will take a day not to do
daily tasks – I will use the time to experiment
• We should have 1 day to do this – stop and
give ourselves the time
8. think………………………………………………
• Work load/priorities not clear/focused
• Not enough clear evidence of impact – feedback
on performance/work done
• Uncertain time is spent on best opportunities –
prioritization
• Lack of organization
• Not keeping up with the things we need to – new
developments, ides etc.
• Not enough guidance, support
10. the problem statement………………
A needs to find a way to get the support she
needs to make good decisions to balance and
prioritize her activities because the are SO many
opportunities and SO many needs
