c. What did the dragon do? Is this literal? Why or why not.
His tail drew 1/3, just a few, of the stars of heaven and cast them to

The Jewish state, city and temple.
Not literal stars and heaven.

Rev 11:12 the two witnesses ascended to heaven
c. Show from OT and NT scriptures that describe these same events
and who this is.
Two possibilities
Ps 2:7-9 Thou art my Son. Thou shall break them with a rod of iron
Rev 19:15 He shall rule them with a rod of iron
Rev 2:26-27 he that overcomes (member of the church in Thyatira) I
will give power over the nations and he shall rule them with a rod of
iron
Rev 3:21 he that overcomes I grant to sit with me on My throne
This manchild is a single individual but representative of the woman’s
first seed Heb 12:23 firstborn one’s names written in heaven
Phil 4:3 Clement and other fellow laborers ..names in the book of life
In contrast to the remnant of her seed in verse 17. Remember that
the two witnesses ( two olive trees) were single individuals but
represented OT prophets and NT apostles. These would be those
referred to in Rev 6:9-11 who had been killed and were waiting for the
Lord’s vengeance. The remnant were still on the earth at war with the
dragon per verse 17.
Rev 14:4 They were the first fruits unto God
James 1:18 a kind of first fruits of His creatures

branch…

up together with the resurrected in the clouds
Acts 1:9-11 Jesus’ ascension
Acts 2:30-36 at God’s right hand
d. Where did the woman go?
She, the church, fled into the wilderness for safety a place prepared by
God
This harks us back to Matt 24 and the destruction of Jerusalem
Matt 24:15-22 when you see the abomination of desolation those in
Judea flee to the mountains ..great tribulation
Mk 13:14-20 them in Judea flee to the mountains.. let him that is on

He persecuted (#1377) the woman that represents the church
1 Cor 15:9 I persecuted (#1377) the church of God
Lk 11:12 they shall persecute you (#1377)
Acts 22:4 I persecuted (#1377) this way unto the death
2. Why?
He was cast out into the earth. He had no right to accuse the brethren
anymore. His hold was now limited. Death was the hold he had on man and
now he had but a short time. So he focused on the church.

Same time period as verse 6. Safe from persecution by Satan through
the Jews who were under attack by the Roman army for 1260 days, for
42 months, for 3 ½ years or time, times and half a time. Note these
relationships:
1260 days – 360 + 720 + 180
42 months – 12 + 24 + 6
3½ days – 1 + 2 + ½
Same as time, times and half a time
Dan 7:23-25 the 4th
beast shall be the 4th
kingdom.. he shall speak
great words against the most high and shall wear out the saints…until
a time, and times and the dividing of time
Dan 12:7-9 till time, times and an half .. the words are closed up and

Is 59:19 the enemy shall come in like a flood…and my words that I have
put in thy mouth
Ps 18:4 7 8 the floods of ungodly men made me afraid ..fire out of His
mouth devoured
Satan mimics the Lord in a deceptive way. With Adam and Eve by
changing one word.
Rev 1:16 out of the Lord’s mouth went a sharp two edged sword
9
10
Rev 2:16 ..I will fight against them with the sword of my mouth
Heb 4:12 the word of God..sharper than any two edged sword
Referring to the truth
Satan’s words are not like the Lords. Water is not solid. It’s liquid and
doesn’t hold it’s shape unless forced to. His are lies and designed to
deceive, to manipulate, like water
John 8:44 no truth in him.. he is a liar and the father of it
Rev 12:9 he deceives the whole world through his lies.
a. What did he want to happen to the woman?
He wanted her carried away of the flood of his lies.
2 Cor 4:3-4 the god of this world hath blinded their minds
b. Is this literal? Explain.
No not literal water or a flood produced by the water,
Thess 2:8-12 with all deceivableness see v3-7 for context
Eph 6:11-12 spiritual wickedness in high places
1 Pet 5:8-9 your adversary the devil
He cast out lies to deceive the woman, the church, to change it
5. Who helped the woman?
The earth (#1093 ge) (the nations/people of the nations) helped the
woman
Matt 13:8 & 23 on the good ground (#1093)
1 Cor 15:47 the first man is of the earth (#1093), earthy
John 3:31 he that is of the earth is earthly (#1093)
Eph 1:10 gather together all things ..in heaven and on earth (#1093)
How?
By swallowing up the flood. The people accepted the lies and deception
of the devil thinking it was right.
2 Cor 11:13-15 deceitful workers …Satan himself is transformed into an
angel of light and his ministers as ministers of righteousness
2 Tim 4:1-4 for the time will come will not endure sound doctrine heap to
themselves teachers having itchy ears
c. What does this mean?
The error that was accepted by the nations helps to protect the
church. Most people don’t love the truth. They prefer the Devil’s lie
10
11
concerning religion. Visit the church, denomination, of your choice.
One church is as good as another.
Thess 2:7-12 …because they received not the love of the truth …God
shall send them strong delusion that they should believe a lie
Tim 4:1-4 Preach the word…the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine ..will heap to themselves teachers having itchy
ears.
Satan was not able to carry away (deceive) the woman, new Jerusalem,
the church, the mother of us all (Gal 4:24)
6. What was the dragon’s final action? Who is referred to?
He was wroth or enraged with the woman/church. Since he was not able
to overcome her, he made war with the remnant of her seed.
Remnant - #3062 - masculine, plural, remaining ones
Rev 2:24 Unto the rest (remnant #3062) in Thyratira who do not have this
doctrine
Seed - #4690 – sperma – issue, seed, offspring
Which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus
Christ.
Satan’s false religions are at war against those who teach the truth and
He uses any means, both physical and spiritual to try to defeat them.
Acts 4:13-23 threats against those teaching the truth
Acts 5:1-5 lies within the church
Acts 5:16-18. 40-42 jailed and beaten
Acts 6:1-7 murmuring over necessities
Acts 7:51-8:4 murder and persecution
The Devil, the liar, and the faithful remnant of the church, those who keep
the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
1 John 2:3-5 hereby we know that we know him if we keep His
commandments. He that says he knows him and keepeth not His
commandments is a liar (of Satan)
