  3. 3. OriginsThe term "pop song," is first recorded as being used in 1926in the sense of a piece of music "having popular appeal".Pop Music began roughly 50 years ago. Its date of birth, isdifficult to define. What is indisputable is that Elvis Presley, was the first, and perhaps the most dynamic, expression of amusic that was raw and primal, charged with a sexualtension that was best measured by the shrill din of the adultvoices attempting to shout it down.At that moment the notion of youth, both as a culture and ademographic, was born; it defines our culture now to adegree that we no longer question.
  4. 4. Pop FactsMichael Jackson was often referred to as the King of Pop.The Beatles were said to be the biggest pop band of all time.Pop artists often started in the music business from a veryyoung age. Eg. Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, JustinBieber.Sometimes people refer to pop music as cheesy pop when itinvolves dance moves and soppy lyrics. If pop music stands for popular music then technically allthe music in the charts could be classed as pop music.
