Beyoncé was born in Houston, Texas, where she was first enrolled into various different performing arts schools where she was first introduced into the competitive world of dancing and singing. Beyoncé first became famous in the late 1990s as the lead singer in one of the worlds best selling girl groups of all time – Destiny’s Child.

In 1995 Beyonces father resigned from his full time job as a medical-equipment salesman to dedicate his time on a boot camp for the new up-coming girl band.

8. Both Luckett and Roberson filed a lawsuit due to ‘breach of contract’, when Michelle Williams and Farah Franklin appeared in the “Say My Name” video. Luckett and Roberson eventually left the group, Franklin faded from the group within the next 5 months. During this time Knowles was suffering with severe depression from the split of the group, being publically attacked by the media and having her longstanding boyfriend leave her. She found it difficult to talk about t her depression at this time because the group had just won a Grammy and she thought no one would take her seriously.

To date ‘Survivor’ has sold over 10 million copies.
