Fifth Harmony are a girl group formed on season 2 of the USA
version of X Factor in July 2012. The group contains five members
who are , Ally Brooke , Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane , Camila
Cabello and Lauren Jauregui. When they left the show in third
place the group signed a contract with Syco Music who was
owned by their mentor on X Factor; Simon Cowell, this also meant
they were signed to Epic Records , LO.A Reid’s record label along
side.
After there departure from the show after being voted out by the
public they chose to release their debut single ‘Miss Movin On’
which hit the Hot 100 and the certified gold in the U.S. A year
later the music video for the track was awarded the MTV Video
Music Award. Then when they realised their debut album ‘Better
Together’ in 2013 it had a first week position of number six on the
U.S Billboars 200. The band continued to make different singles
and realise new albums, however there most successful singles
have been Boss , worth it and Sledgehammer with them all
becoming platinum singles. Due to the groups huge success and
popularity, with 7.5 million certified records sold in the United
States, Fifth Harmony has emerged as the most successful alumni
from the X Factor U.S. franchise.
Karla Camila Cabelo Estrabao who's known in the music industry as Camila
Cabello was born in March 3rd 1997, She's a singer / performer who's style
includes Pop and R&B genre. Camila became known when she appeared as a
contestant on the X factor North Carolina auditions. She was born in Cojimar,
Cuba and her family moved to the United States when Camila was age six, this is
where she grew up and started to peruse her passion of singing on YouTube by
posting weekly music covers of known artist songs. Currently one of the band
members to fifth harmony she's known as the adorable and funny one in the
group, the loud and jokable member who always has the group in stitches.
Camilia auditioned for the X factor and was told she's been called back for
auditions in front of the judges, after receiving yeses from all four judges she
was then invited to bootcamp. Within her bootcamp audition she sung ‘Back to
Black’ by Amy Winehouse during the first task, followed by task two requiring
her to perform ‘Your Song’ with contestant Jordan Shane. After performing the
judges came to the conclusion of making a huge decision to create a girl band,
this is when the group fifth harmony formed and since then the artist has never
looked back. During judges houses the girls performed ‘Impossible’ by Shontele ,
this intrigued Simon and he made the comment of saying that impossible was
actually the reason he fell in love with the girl group. When Live performances
arrived judges La Reid and Britney Spears weren't fond fans to the girls likings ,
however the girls caught the eyes of the public and they were soon being voted
through ever week and with the support and confidence of Simon Cowell they
continued to achieve big things once leaving the show. Camilia has actually
realised her first single ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ which was
published in November 2015 with Canadian Shawn Mendes . The single hit 97
on the billboard Hot 100 and she received a certified Platinum in February 2016
Lauren Jauregui was born on June 1996, she's
Cuban-American but grew up in Miami, Florida. In
her home town she went to Carrollton School of
Sacred Heart until 7th grade. From a young age
Lauren had a passion for singing and performing
and chose to peruse the opportunity to show her
talent by auditioning to be on the Xfactor in 2012,
unfortunately she didn’t make it through as a solo
artist after bootcamp but was given the opportunity
to be in a girl band which was made up y the former
judges, the group of five now call themselves fifth
harmony. Lauren aspires to be a performer like
Christina Aguilera and her influences include well
known singers such as Kelly Clarkson and Coldplay.
Juregui is a talented singer and very popular with
the general public with her audition video from X
factor receiving over 3 million views on YouTube.
Normani Kordei Hamilton is an American singer
who was born in Alanta Georgue Circa on May 31
1996. Most of her childhood days were sent in
New Orleans before moving to Houston Texas
after the Hurricane Katrina struck near her area in
2005. At the age of only 13 Normani had recorded
her first single . In 2012 she decided to audition
for the U.S version of reality TV competition the X
Factor in which she was placed into a girl group by
the judges after not being put through in
bootcamp as a solo artist. Hamilton hasn’t only
appeared on X Factor she's been on the HBO
original series Theme in a small role and she was
an award winning dancer and gymnast before she
found her passion for singing in which she
perused when she was 13.
Dinah Jane Hansen is polunesian , Tongan and of
Danish descent and also one of six siblings, she was
born in Santa Ana California on June 22 1997.
Hansen chose to audition for the X Factor with
performance piece being ‘If I Were a Boy, by
Beyoncé, who is one of her musical influences.
Unfortunately during the final round of bootcamp
she forgot apart of her song throughout the
performance to ‘Stronger’ BY Kelly Clarkson. She
was eliminated from the compaction as a solo artist
but then was asked back onto stage to be apart of a
formed girl band , which would later on be called
fifth harmony. In early 20013 she signed a joint
record deal along with fifth harmony to Sony Music
which is Simon Cowell’s label which mentored hair
and the group through their time on the X Factor.
