The Cover In terms of attracting the audience I think the thing on this page which works best would be the text, its brightly coloured and very bold this meaning that the it attracts the eye, not on only to what is being said but I also thing it would attract the eye if displayed in a shop along with other magazines and this is obviously very important when selling it. I have shown some text in this black font because these are the items which should be noticed later after the readers initial attention has been caught, they are the less important features and information. I have tried to use text which would capture the readers attention for instance “find out why” as the introduction to an article about Neil Fuller is appropriate as it is not a suggestion to the readers that they might like to know , it has been phrased as something they need to know, phrased as an order rather than an option to read the article. Another example is calling the page the “NEW music issue” this would hopefully be attractive to people due to the fact my audience which consist of generally teenagers have this need to be constantly introduced to new things, and I hope by displaying this so boldly on the front cover they might take more of an interest in the magazine.

3. The Cover The most important image on the page should clearly be the feature artist, I have decided to try to attract attention towards this by using a close up image of my artist and by making her look at the camera. I think that this is more powerful than an image of her looking away as we start to see emotion in her face through the eyes and this would appeal more to most people, I noticed it was used a lot in my research and this is why I did the same. The main feature is obviously going to be a main selling point for the magazine and the artist needs to therefore be the clearest thing on the page, which is why she is the only image shown. The second image shown on the front cover is that of another artist, it is a lot smaller due to the fact it is only showing a poster which has been enlarged inside. The reason I have been able to show him looking away is because the fact it is a poster shows he is already well known.

4. The Contents The contents page shows a lot about how I have tried to attract a particular audience. All of the features and bands included have come from conduction some research into my audience the music featured is all indie/ alternative and continues he particular theme I tried to show via the appearance of the people shown in it. The features shown also follow a particular theme, they are mostly about tours, gigs or new releases. This is mostly about the artists rather than the technical side of the music they play and I think this appeals most to my audience. I have used captions from the interviews in my magazines to try and attract more attention and interest people to read them. The main selling point of the magazine would clearly be the interview shown on the front cover and I have therefore included another image of the artist which is the most dominant thing on the page. The caption I have included is very informal which sets the tone of the interview well, it also reveals some of the interview while making the reader want to know more which is obviously very important. The key parts of this quote have been shown in a larger font to draw attention to them and by association the rest.

5. The Contents The second image has placed in the bottom right hand corner, this is because although it is not the main feature showing an image on contents page will draw some more attention toward this feature than just the text. The image is a lot less formal than the main one on this page and I hope that it attracts attention due to the interesting setting (showing graffiti)on the wall) and also that the body language is more interesting in this photo. This has again been labelled with a quote from the interview which addresses the reader directly and this should make them want to read the whole interview. The main image has been shown facing the camera again in this clear background and I thought this was important to attract an audience as the feature shows her introduction into the music industry, this clearly tells us she is a new face to most people so this sort of close up shot is important to be shown initially so the readers can get to know her image without showing too much about the music or her personality at this stage.

6. The Feature To attract people to this I tired to make the layout more relaxed and therefore more approachable, the text has been split up by images and quotes which I think makes the page look a lot less formal and slightly cluttered. The first page has been shown with a title for the feature, an image of the lead singer of a band (who the interview is with and this image has the band name layered over the top in a font which resembles a signature making it again a lot less formal. The reason I thought this might attract more attention from my audience is because in my research I noticed a similar style, by keeping the pages more cluttered and busy it not only keep the readers attention but it also means they are aesthetically a lot more interesting to view. The second page shows majority of the text however by using different colours to recognise who is saying what in the interview and splitting it up I hope it appears more approachable than one long paragraph in one colour and could easily appear boring.

7. The Feature The text used in this feature page should hopefully be useful for attracting attention and addressing the audience as I tried to keep the entire interview informal and easy to understand . By making it more relaxed it becomes more interesting for most readers and also means it appears more natural and less staged to the readers as some interviews can be. The main way I tired to show this was by titling who said what as it would be seen in a script or reading a play, I think this makes it more believable as it suggests each line is a direct quote. And therefore seen as reliable. The most important parts which I thought might attract peoples attention to the overall feature. The quotes I have used show a more opinionated view of Hollie than the rest of the interview however I think that it was important to show a harsher person to get some interest, considering in the interview I mention that Hollie is new to the music industry I think had this been a real interview they would have tried to exaggerate her character so people remember her.
