Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management is
widely used in the mining industry. From detailed feasibility
studies to coordinating equipment and materials to get to a site, a
company that offers a full suite of EPCM services is often an
integral part in getting a project from exploration to operation.

Structural Design Engineering
In the Design and Layout of an industrial plant, thousands of piping drawings are
needed to provide detailed information to the craftsmen who will construct the facility. Facility
design and layout must meet the customer's expectations as well as comply with safety codes,
government standards, client specifications, budget, and start-up date.
The piping group has the main responsibility for the design and layout of the facility.
Drafters and designers must coordinate their efforts with the Structural, Electrical, and
Instrumentation groups throughout the design process.
The piping group must provide each design group the necessary information needed
to complete their part of the project and have the complete set of plan and construction
drawings finished on time. During this time, it may be necessary for designers to visit the plant
construction site to establish tie-ins or verify information necessary to complete the design.
 The routing, Layout & Design of the Pipes, fittings in a complex Piping
system is typically done by Piping Engineer.
 A Piping Engineer requires many technical skills such as :-
 The principles and practice of drafting in general and of creating isometric
drawings.
 A basic understanding of fluid flow, Piping Materials and Piping
specifications.
 An extensive knowledge of Piping Standards and Codes as well as Process
safety Codes and practices.
 A knowledge of the various types of pipe connections such as threaded,
welded and flanged connections as well as a knowledge of the various
types of valves and why and where they are used.

The design engineering and construction of industrial plants involves a multi
disciplinary team effort.
The goal is to design safe and dependable processing facilities in a cost
effective manner. The fact is that there are very few formal training programs
that focus on design and engineering of Electrical systems of such big plants.
Therefore, most of the required skills are acquired while on the job, reducing
productivity and efficiency.
The objective of this course is to provide the delegates the Detail knowledge
and skills in Electrical Design discipline to facilitate faster learning curves while
on the job.
 The scope of Electrical Engineers in Modern Construction Industry.
 The fundaments of Electrical Power Systems.
 Electrical Codes & Standards.
 Generation, Transmission & Distribution of Electricity.
