4. HORIZONTAL
LINES:
• Line that run parallel to
the ground.
• When used in a work
of art , makes the
viewer feel comfortable
, calm , relaxed ,
peaceful and quite.

5. VERTICAL
LINES:
• Lines that move up
and down.
• When used in work
of art, shows, dignity,
formally and
strength.

6. DIAGONAL
LINES:
• Lines that slant.
• When used in a
work of art portray
action and
excitement.

7. CURVED
LINES:
• Lines that change
direction gradually.
• When viewed in a work
of art express
movement in a
graceful, flowing
manner.

8. ZIGZAG
LINES:
• Lines that are made by
combining diagonal lines
that change direction.
• These lines when viewed
in a work of art create
confusion. They suggest
action and excitement.

QUALITY OR THICKNESS
Quality of lines - determined by the tool
the artist uses and the motion of the artist’s
hand.
Thickness – how dark and heavy it
appears.
