There are three types of elements in the periodic table: metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity and are usually malleable and ductile, while nonmetals are poor conductors and are brittle. Metalloids have properties between metals and nonmetals. The periodic table organizes elements into groups and periods based on their properties.
