This document contains three quotes that express the importance of deep reflection to further understanding and progress. Poincare and Lown agree with Einstein that by examining all aspects of what we know and can predict, we can advance our knowledge. If we do not question previous beliefs, we cannot determine what is factual or truly accepted as true. Only by questioning old beliefs can we make informed choices about actions and predict their consequences to help develop future opportunities. Reflection and consideration of potential outcomes are necessary to guide decisions and lead to discovery.

5. All three of the quotes express the need for deep reflection in order to move forward or to understand. Both Poincare and Lown agree with Einstein’s idea that by considering everything, what we know and what we can predict, we can successfully advance. If we do not question our previous “knowledge” we can never be sure of what fact is, or what can be accepted as true. Without objection to old beliefs, we cannot make choices which surely will be beneficial. With objection, we can predict the consequences to our actions and we can discover what will help develop opportunities to aid the future. With life being a series of choices and consequences (Kyle Kauffman) we must take time to keep in mind that by reflecting and predicting, we are able to determine the outcomes of our actions and provide ourselves with discovery and opportunity.
