Seruds Orphanage for Girls and Orphanage for Boys were started in January 2012. We started with 5 children in 2012. Today we have 25 girls and 35 boys. The Children’s Homes are spread across 3 floors. The children are orphans, rescued street children found by volunteers, or come from very poor families or have single parents who cannot give them proper education and food. Our children call it their home. Indeed we work hard to make it so. After they have lost so much, they deserve all the security and love any normal home provides Orphanage has 2 desktop computers and 1 laptop. The children are given training in computer skills by a volunteer faculty.

Our Story
iFamile Emu Children’s Center was founded June 2014 by Akol Benyamen Jayjay with the help of 친구등록 and Anyango Maureen. The idea for the organization was born when Akol and 친구등록 visited the rural orphan children in Bukedea-Uganda. During this visit Akol saw many children under child labour with little to no access to basic necessities. Since then Anyango has remained actively involved as a Co-founder whilst Akol remains the heart and soul of iFamile Emu. It was at this time that he was so much moved with compassion and decided to start the iFamile Emu Children’s Center.
iFamile Emu means “One Family” in Luganda (It’s the most language used in the central Uganda). We have made all the necessary efforts to bring up the children as members of one family despite coming from different backgrounds. This makes our center stand out from the others because we care deeply not only for feeding, sheltering, clothing and educating them but we also care about the family values we are instilling in them at this early stage of their development. iFamile Emu strongly believes that working together as a family we can make a difference to the future of the children in our care today.

We started coming to the Dominican Republic in 2006. We originally earned a vacation from a company we worked for. We bought a vacation package and gradually became more and more involved in the community. In 2012 we registered Dominican Starfish Foundation.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

5. I am majoring in Elementary Education, and Technical Education and Industry Training.
6. My academic goal is to attain a Master’s in Educational Leadership.
7. I love to volunteer and help in the community for any cause, especially helping children.
8. My experience with project was exceptional to any other volunteer work I have done because I was involved in it with my sister and my mom. Our goal was to hand out a bear to each child staying in the house, and we accomplished it. We raised over 500 bears for the house, and were able to place them in various parts including the playroom. We hope that these bears will provide comfort and happiness for the children and families that must reside in the Ronald McDonald house due to disabilities and illnesses.About Me
9. Bears for Hearts was a wish my younger sister had a few years ago brought to real life through the help of family, close friends, and the community. My mom, my sister and I got together and raised awareness for Shands Hospital in Gainesville Children’s Ward. We raised about 200+ bears for the children to pick from and keep. Having such great success, we continued it this year at the Ronald McDonald House, where we knew the Manager Mel and she helped us raise more than 500+ bears this time. This project was really important to us because we want to bring smiles and happiness to children and families who are going through hard times. Something as simple as “bear hug” can make a child feel special. The Ronald McDonald House is an organization that houses families with children who are hospitalized due to a disability or illness. This house is for struggling families and it allows them to have a place to sleep and shower for the time being. The remaining bears were distributed all over the house, including the playroom.
10. We served the Ronald McDonald House of St. Petersburg which houses families and children with disabilities and illnesses that need to receive treatment at All Children’s Hospital. Some of the children we interacted with had neurological disorders, liver disorders, and growth and development disorders. They aged from infants to 10 years old. We raised over 500 bears and handed out personally about 30 to the children staying at the House. The rest of the bears would be distributed among the house, the rooms, and the playroom and to future incoming families.
11. Reflection Since this is the second time we have done this drive, we plan to do it again. This time we plan to distribute them among children who have been displaced and neglected. We will use the help of my grandmother and aunt who have actively served as foster parents for over 25 years to children with disabilities and who are emotionally disturbed. These experiences of interacting with families and children who have disabilities and illnesses help me be a patient and understanding person. It helps me remember what is important in life. Teaching students’ who have medical disorders are the same as everyone else in this world and deserve to be treated the same as everyone else. Even children who are not believed to live past their childhood deserve a chance to give it their all with the right support and positive enforcements.
