Jennifer tutored two boys with emotional disturbances and ADHD at an elementary school, helping them improve reading, math, and writing skills. She also provided horseback riding lessons to a girl with autism to help her riding skills and focus. Working with these students has given Jennifer valuable experience with different disabilities and teaching strategies. She found it rewarding to see their success, such as improving test scores and the girl placing second in a horse show. Jennifer feels this experience has made her a more sensitive teacher and will help her work with diverse students in the future.

At Breakthrough, we believe the road to college begins in middle school. Yet, for low-income, underserved youth – the road is often bumpy with twists and turns that can steer them off the path. You will hear from five students, who will share details of their journey to college, and the role that Breakthrough plays in taking that journey with them.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you Donovan, Maggie, Jennifer, Manuel, and Danielle – the students of Breakthrough Silicon Valley.
Family Support Service connections to mental health counseling and other community engagement activities are essential for strengthening resiliency & protective factors for a child undergoing emotional turmoil and/or are in need of trauma-informed care. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
2. Early Perceptions When I first started this project I was extremely nervous. I did not have the experience in working with children with disabilities. I wanted to make sure I was a positive influence on these children and helped them grow. I wanted to make sure that these children would be able to comprehend me and like me. I did not want them to be afraid of me, but think of me as a friend, who wants them to succeed. I wanted to make sure that they did succeed and gain confidence.
3. Introduction to the Setting I spent ten of my hours tutoring two students at Lake Mary Elementary school. There I was able to help two fifth grade boys in reading, math and writing. There reading levels were of a third grade students. One of the boys was named Mathew, his disability is that he is emotionally disturbed. The second student Zack, has the same disability, but also has attention deficient disorder. These two students are both having problems with reading at their grade level. For the other part of my hours I have been giving horse back riding lessons to a young girl named Olivia. Olivia is a girl who has autism. I have been working with her for over a year. I have been helping Olivia with working with her horse to help her reach her goal in horse shows. This has been at a horse farm in Clermont, Florida.
5. Demographics Horse back riding with Olivia and I (Clermont, FL and horse shows (Florida and Georgia) Left picture: Olivia riding and I am in the purple shirt training. Right picture: I am training one of her horses.
6. Personal Demographics I have been riding horses since I was two years old and this is one of my passions, along with teaching. I have always tutored friends and taught horse lessons. The combination of the two is great. It has helped me with Olivia and taught me how to connect and reach her through horses. I enjoy working and going to school to learn many new and exciting things.
7. Engagement Activities While at Lake Mary Elementary school I worked with two students in the fifth grade, Mathew and Zack. These students were both emotionally disturbed and Zack also has AHD. I spend over ten hours tutoring these young boys. I helped them in reading, math and writing. The hardest part was thinking of ways to engage them in learning. I found it best when I separated the two and gave them a goal and reward when they reached it. In the end I became not only a tutor, but a friend to both of them. I still help them a few times a month. While working with Olivia, I have helped her with connecting to her horse and becoming a better rider. I worked with her for over a year now and still am. I help her with grooming her horse, riding her horse and her focus on one specific goal at time. This has been a battling struggle for her in and out of her school life. I have worked with her in Clermont, Fl and at Florida and Georgia horse shows.
8. Participant Demographics I served three elementary school students. Mathew is a fifth grade student and ten years old. He is an emotionally disturbed student who is at a third grade reading level. He is Caucasian and speaks only English. He is struggling with trust and needs constant reassurance. Zack is a fifth grade student and is eleven years old. He is an emotionally disturbed student and also has AHD. He is on a first grade reading level. He is Caucasian and speaks only English. He is struggling with focusing on the present. Olivia is a fourth grade student and is nine years old. Olivia has Autism. She is Caucasian and speaks only English. She is struggling with focus on one specific topic at a time.
9. Reflection of your Experience Working with Zack, Olivia and Mathew has changed my insight to students with disabilities and has really opened up my eyes to the real world. I have never had to work with students with disabilities until recently. I believe I have also grown as a person and become a more sensitive and aware person. I will use this experience when dealing with future students with disabilities and other students. It will help me reach other students and teach them new concepts. The most memorable experience was watching all three of these students succeed. When Olivia finally understood that she has to be light with her hands for her horse to listen to her, she look second place! It was an amazing feeling because I felt that I had reached my goal, which was to help her succeed. When both Zack and Mathew finally learned to relax and use the strategies that were taught to them, they were able to do well on tests. It was the most rewarding thing I have ever felt.
10. Reflection of your Experience I will take away a great knowledge and experience from this. I have learned how to use different strategies to reach children, how to teach them these strategies and will use this when I become a future teacher. I will share my experiences with other teachers and classmates. I take away a sense of success and experience. I have succeeded in helping these children and in return I have succeeded.
