Auf der ThingsCon Amsterdam präsentierten im November 2017 vier Hochschulen, wie sie Studierende auf die Gestaltung des Internets der Dinge vorbereiten. Hier ist die Präsentation für den Studiengang IMD.
Ubiquitous Computing - The Future of ComputingShiraz Shrestha
Ubiquitous Computing is a technology that interlinks physical and digital world together. It aims to do so by embedding microprocessors in devices of various forms including laptops, tablets and in everyday objects such as fridge, tables, pair of glasses, etc. The basic idea behind Ubiquitous Computing is to embed chips in almost any devices, from clothing to tools to appliances to cars to homes to kitchens to the human body to connect it to an infinite network of other devices.
This slide deals with ubiquitous computing, the eras of computing, generic features of ubiquitous computing like natural interfaces, context-aware learning and automated capture and access to live experiences, related areas of ubiquitous computing like ambient intelligence, augmented reality, wearable computing, how it has changed the way humans interact with the computers and the future of computing.
Imagine touching the armrest of your sofa to change the channel on your television, or pressing against a lightbulb stencil on
the wall to turn on your smart light – these functions and many more like them are now possible thanks to research from a
team from the Computer Science and Artixcial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT, and the University of Bristol and the
University of Bath in the UK.

An overview of the most interesting things presented at AdTEch 2017 Sydney including how technology is smoothing the path to purchase and eliminating friction instead of engineering solutions. The Internet of things, the future of search plus only AI predicted Donald Trump as President.

Beyond Screen - User Experience for the Internet of things.Chris Jackson
This was my presentation at UXNZ (http://www.uxnewzealand.com/) in November of 2015. The focus was on the diverse opportunities that IoT holds for UX, industrial and service designers, and how they need to move beyond screen to make the most of its potential. The talk draws on observations from client work at DNA, my own work at Northwards Design Studio and hosting the IoT Wellington Meetup.
SYNOPSIS:
Chris Jackson has a dream. It’s a dream where intelligent devices of all types communicate clearly with each other, CEOs see past their outdated business models, and user experience designers are freed from the confines of designing for the screen.
At UXNZ, Chris is going to share his dream. He’ll talk about the potential of a new Internet of Things (IoT) and how user experience designers are well placed to help make this dream a reality.
Please excuse the links to video, the original presentation was too large to upload on slideshare with embedded video. I also talk without notes, but hopefully it's simple enough to follow. I am hoping video will appear at some point from the conference organisers.

You are probably asking yourself: “As a UX designer, can I actually change the world?” Not by yourself – but you can make a positive contribution. The prerequisite is the interdisciplinary cooperation of specialists in operational ergonomics, product designers, developers, and some others. Find out the influence of technologies on our society, how we reduce reservations thanks to human-centred design, and how we use our tools optimally in the “Digital Designer” college to obtain a relationship between human beings and technology that has real added value. Let’s go!

Ambient Intelligence (AmI) refers to a vision of the future information society where intelligent interfaces enable people and devices to interact with each other and with the environment. Ambient intelligence (AmI) research builds upon advances in sensors and sensor networks, pervasive computing, and artificial intelligence. Because these contributing fields have experienced tremendous growth in the last few years, AmI research has strengthened and expanded. Because AmI research is maturing, the resulting technologies promise to revolutionaries daily human life by making people's surroundings edible and adaptive.

Seitdem sich die vernetzten Dinge in unserer Umgebung zunehmend mit sich selbst beschäftigen, bedarf es des Nachdenkens über die Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion.
Hurray, it's a Toaster! About our relationship with machines.Andrea Krajewski
Talk at the ux-congress 2017, Frankfurt.
How IoT changes our role as users, and the demand for HCRD (Human-Computer Relationship Design) instead of HCID (Human-Computer Interaction Design).
With the upcoming IoT, our living environment transforms into an interconnected ecosystem that provides services to us. It reacts to us intuitively and preferably before we by ourselves know that we are shortly going to wish something. This scenario calls for reconsidering the classical user interface. Will every „thing“ get an own interface to be able to understand it’s contribution? Shall we really control the whole system with an App – or thousands of them?
Is the user actively operating at all in the IoT, or will the known user interface be obsolete, when the services are produced by a context sensitive, autonomous adaptive system? What to design if there is only user experience left? Can the user stand not to be a user anymore? Will he need a substitute satisfaction? The talk has a focus on the changed perspective of interface design due to IoT.

By exploring a case in Ahmedabad, it highlights the challenges and processes in dairy farming across different environments, emphasising the need for sustainable practices and the essential role of milk in daily consumption.
Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

You could be a professional graphic designer and still make mistakes. There is always the possibility of human error. On the other hand if you’re not a designer, the chances of making some common graphic design mistakes are even higher. Because you don’t know what you don’t know. That’s where this blog comes in. To make your job easier and help you create better designs, we have put together a list of common graphic design mistakes that you need to avoid.
