EDUCATION SYSTEM IN
INDIA
INTRODUCTION
 Education is the process of facilitating learning , or
acquisition of knowledge, skills, values and habits of
essential needs of life.
 Education system is different in every country, not all the
countries are following a common education system
HISTORY OF EDUCATION IN INDIA
 Earlier education system was commenced under the
supervision of gurus
 There were no special class rooms or laboratories , the
house of gurus was the place to learn and it was called as
Gurukul In older days the teachers had to choose the
students, to whom they want to teach the skills.
 There was no fee or any prizes given to the gurus instead
of that life long benefits were to be provided by the
student to his guru
TYPE OF EDUCATION SYSTEM FOLLOWED
IN INDIA
 The National policy of education system was framed in the
year 1986 and it was amended in the year 1992.
 Education System has four stages
Primary Education
Secondary Education
Vocational Education
Tertiary Education
ADVANTAGES OF INDIAN EDUCATION
SYSTEM
 By comparing with other countries only in India every
student have a basic knowledge about all the subjects.
 Schools in India follow the regular attendance method, so
that students will gain basic knowledge about their daily
habitation and life needs.
 Students go through many exams in their learning years, It
teaches them to analyze their own strength and weakness
consistently.
DRAWBACKS OF INDIAN EDUCATION
SYSTEM
 Education System Promotes Rat Race
 In India up to 85% of students use to memorize the
content in the books and use to write the same words in
the exams
 Education Does Not Builds Persona of a Child
 The syllabus is mostly in the form of theoretical basis,
there are only few subjects which contain practical
contents.
Continued…
 Only in India the quality of education depends upon the
money and politics, these two things rules the education
nowadays and makes the education as a corporate
business in India.
 There are still many single teacher schools in many
villages
INDIAN VS FOREIGN EDUCATION SYSTEM
 In India, education is a part of routine
 In foreign countries education is taken as a learning
process
 In India students are not given choice to select their field
of interest. One must become an engineer or a doctor
Sports and arts are considered to be made for leftovers
 In India, students are required to memorize facts and
figures
 In foreign country they impact knowledge in students
through practical implementation.
Continued…
 We believe in grades and certificates
 Foreign countries believe in skills
 Indian education system teaches old technologies.
Education system hasn’t changed much after
independence
THINGS INDIA SHOULD DO TO IMPROVE
EDUCATION SYSTEM
 Indian government needs to invest large amount in order
to develop the infrastructure of schools and colleges
 Methods of teaching needs more change, Teachers should
encourage the students to think logically & to increase
creativity in students
 Career options to choose from
 Personality development
Continued…
 Physical education should be given equal importance as
other subjects are given
 Should focus on practical knowledge more compared to
theoretical knowledge
CONCLUSION
 There is a definite need of revolutionary changes in the
Indian education system
 I will never say that Indian education is the poorest
education system, because I am also educated by the
same Indian education system
 Students should never memorize the syllabus or content in
the books but should know what importance they hold
practically
 With the effective learning system, India can successfully
utilize its vast human resources
