Development  of  Research  Culture  in  a  Tanzanian  HEI   through  a  PhD  School   •  Most  Tanzanian  HEI´s,  which  train  CS  and  IT   professionals  focus  mainly  on  undergraduate  educa6on,   while  research  outputs  are  generally  low   –  Faculty  members  are  master’s  degree  holders   –  Faculty  members  are  heavily  loaded  with  teaching  and   administra6ve  du6es   –  In  general,  a  serious  lack  in  support  for  all  research   ac6vi6es   •  The  situa6on  is  slowly  improving  as  the  number  of   research-­‐enhancing  ini6a6ves  between  Tanzanian  and   western  academic  ins6tu6ons  is  increasing  (but  is  s6ll   low)   Mo?va?on   Problem  statement   Approach   Expected  results   Conclusions     College  of  Business  Educa?on  (CBE),   Dar  es  Salaam,  Tanzania
