Edirne High School is the oldest high school in Edirne, Turkey, founded in 1857. It has over 500 students and 40 teachers. Important historical figures like Ataturk visited the school. It offers a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities to prepare students for university.

2. • Edirne is a city with a long history and it was named after the Roman emperor Hadiarus.
• İt was the second capital city of the Ottoman Empire and served as the capital for nearly
90 years.

3. Edirne High School was founded in 1857, which makes it the
oldest high school in our city and one of the oldest in Turkey.
There are many important people graduated from our school,
people like Ministers, Deputies, Governors, Mayors, Rectors
and the list goes on. Also famous artists like the sculptor Ilhan
Koman.

4. Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, visited our school in 1930.

6. SCHOOL TIMETABLE
We start classes at 8.30 am. Each lesson takes 40 minutes. We have a break at
09.10 am. It lasts 10 minutes. In the morning we have five classes and four ten-
minute breaks.
Lunch break is at 12.30 pm and it lasts 50 minutes. In the afternoon classes start at
01.20 pm . After having three classes and two ten-minute breaks, school finishes at
3.40 pm.

7. SCHOOL SUBJECTS

We study Turkish language and literature ( native
language), English, German, Maths, History,
Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Religious
education, Physical education, Music, Art and
Counseling class as compulsory for the 9th and 10th
grades. ICT subject is optional.
For the 11th and 12th grades, students choose some
optional subjects according to their interests. There are
also social clubs. We prepare ourselves to attend a
good university and to have a future career.

10. • Our school has a large garden and 2 buildings, a dormitory and a museum in it. In
the main building, we have our classrooms, a library, an auditorium, a canteen, and a
music room. In the second building, we have science laboratories, a technology
laboratory, a foreign language laboratory, an art room and a gym.

traditional ‘’Alumni Day’’. On this
