Çelikhan is a small town of 8,000 people in southeast Turkey known for tobacco cultivation and floating islands on Çad Dam. Çelikhan Lisesi high school was opened in 1970 and has around 500 students and 30 teachers, including a dormitory building that houses 65 boys and 55 girls. The school provides a 4-year high school education with classes in math-science, math-social sciences, and social sciences, and has installed smartboards in classrooms through Turkey's FATIH project to provide students tablets.
