This document outlines the questions that will be asked in an examination for a fourth year embedded and real-time systems course. It covers topics such as distributed control computer (DCC) systems, unified modeling language (UML) for embedded system design, ARM processor functions, microcontroller peripherals, data flow graphs, loop optimizations, scheduling algorithms, real-time operating systems (RTOS), distributed embedded systems, and more. Students will be asked short questions to test their knowledge, as well as longer questions involving diagrams and explanations of concepts.

Relay Vehicle Formations for Optimizing Communication Quality in Robot NetworksMd Mahbubur Rahman
Communication relay has vital importance in military, mining,
surveillance and rescue missions, where robots are remotely
controlled by an operator (e.g, drone) who stays in a safe location.
Problem: Wireless signal over distance degrades. Obstacles, terrain,
weather condition further attenuates the signal.
Solution: Relay robots are placed in between the operator and
remotely placed robotic units.
Exact Cell Decomposition of Arrangements used for Path Planning in RoboticsUmair Amjad
This is short overview of research paper.
We present a practical algorithm for the automatic generation of a map that describes the operation environment of an indoor mobile service robot. The input is a CAD description of a building consisting of line segments that represent the walls. The algorithm is based on the exact cell decomposition obtained when these segments are extended to infinite lines, resulting in a line arrangement. The cells are represented by nodes in a connectivity graph. The map consists of the connectivity graph and additional environmental information that is calculated for each cell. The method takes into account both the path planning and position verification requirements of the robot and has been implemented.
