Mobile Application of Pet Adoption System

The Web of Things (WoT) aims to extend the Web into the physical world by promoting the adoption of Web protocols by situated services and smart objects (ambient artifacts). However, real-world ambient artifacts often adopt proprietary and/or non-Web protocols, making them invisible to Web search engines and inaccessible to conventional Web agents. Smart Gateways have been proposed as a way to “Web-enable” proprietary ambient artifacts through intermediary proxy nodes; however, the requisite infrastructure is difficult to deploy at Web scale. To address such challenges, we are developing Ambient Dynamix (Dynamix): a plug-and-play context framework for mobile devices, which enables Web agents to interoperate with non-Web ambient artifacts – directly from the browser. In this paper, we describe how Dynamix can be used to transform the user’s device into an ad-hoc Smart Gateway in-situ, enabling Web applications (in the device’s browser) to seamlessly interact with non-Web ambient artifacts in the physical environment. We describe an operational prototype implementation, which enables Web apps to discover and control nearby UPnP and AirPlay media devices uniformly. We also present a performance evaluation that indicates the prototype imposes low processing and memory overhead, and is suitable for deployment on many commodity mobile devices.

In this talk, we will explore how Uber enables rapid experimentation of machine learning models and optimization algorithms through the Uber’s Data Science Workbench (DSW). DSW covers a series of stages in data scientists’ workflow including data exploration, feature engineering, machine learning model training, testing and production deployment. DSW provides interactive notebooks for multiple languages with on-demand resource allocation and share their works through community features.
It also has support for notebooks and intelligent applications backed by spark job servers. Deep learning applications based on TensorFlow and Torch can be brought into DSW smoothly where resources management is taken care of by the system. The environment in DSW is customizable where users can bring their own libraries and frameworks. Moreover, DSW provides support for Shiny and Python dashboards as well as many other in-house visualization and mapping tools.
In the second part of this talk, we will explore the use cases where custom machine learning models developed in DSW are productionized within the platform. Uber applies Machine learning extensively to solve some hard problems. Some use cases include calculating the right prices for rides in over 600 cities and applying NLP technologies to customer feedbacks to offer safe rides and reduce support costs. We will look at various options evaluated for productionizing custom models (server based and serverless). We will also look at how DSW integrates into the larger Uber’s ML ecosystem, e.g. model/feature stores and other ML tools, to realize the vision of a complete ML platform for Uber.

[Context:] Technical leverage is the ratio between dependencies (other people's code) and own codes of a software package. It has been shown to be useful to characterize the Java ecosystem and there are also studies on the NPM ecosystem available. [Objective:] By using this metric we aim to analyze the Python ecosystem, how it evolves, and how secure it is, as a developer would perceive it when deciding to adopt or update (or not) a library. [Method:] We collect a dataset of the top 600 Python packages (corresponding to 21,205 versions) and used a number of innovative approaches for its analysis including the use of a two-part statistical model to deal with excess zeros, a mathematical closed formulation to estimate vulnerabilities that we confirm with bootstrapping on the actual dataset. [Results:] Small Python package versions have a median technical leverage of 6.9x their own code, while bigger package versions rely on dependencies code a tenth of their own (median leverage of 0.1). In terms of evolution, Python packages tend to have stable technical leverage through their evolution (once highly leveraged, always leveraged). On security, the chance of getting a safe package version when choosing a package is actually better than previous research has shown based on the ratio of safe package versions in the ecosystem. [Conclusions:] Python packages ship a lot of other people's code and tend to keep doing so. However, developers will have a good chance to choose a safe package version.TRIK robotics

Big Data, Beyond the Data Center
Increasingly the next scientific discoveries and the next industrial innovative breakthroughs will depend on the capacity to extract knowledge and sense from gigantic amount of information. Examples vary from processing data provided by scientific instruments such as the CERN’s LHC; collecting data from large-scale sensor networks; grabbing, indexing and nearly instantaneously mining and searching the Web; building and traversing the billion-edges social network graphs; anticipating market and customer trends through multiple channels of information. Collecting information from various sources, recognizing patterns and distilling insights constitutes what is called the Big Data challenge. However, As the volume of data grows exponentially, the management of these data becomes more complex in proportion. A key challenge is to handle the complexity of data management on Hybrid distributed infrastructures, i.e assemblage of Cloud, Grid or Desktop Grids. In this talk, I will overview our works in this research area; starting with BitDew, a middleware for large scale data management on Clouds and Desktop Grids. Then I will present our approach to enable MapReduce on Desktop Grids. Finally, I will present our latest results around Active Data, a programming model for managing data life cycle on heterogeneous systems and infrastructures.

[Context:] Technical leverage is the ratio between dependencies (other people's code) and own codes of a software package. It has been shown to be useful to characterize the Java ecosystem and there are also studies on the NPM ecosystem available. [Objective:] By using this metric we aim to analyze the Python ecosystem, how it evolves, and how secure it is, as a developer would perceive it when deciding to adopt or update (or not) a library. [Method:] We collect a dataset of the top 600 Python packages (corresponding to 21,205 versions) and used a number of innovative approaches for its analysis including the use of a two-part statistical model to deal with excess zeros, a mathematical closed formulation to estimate vulnerabilities that we confirm with bootstrapping on the actual dataset. [Results:] Small Python package versions have a median technical leverage of 6.9x their own code, while bigger package versions rely on dependencies code a tenth of their own (median leverage of 0.1). In terms of evolution, Python packages tend to have stable technical leverage through their evolution (once highly leveraged, always leveraged). On security, the chance of getting a safe package version when choosing a package is actually better than previous research has shown based on the ratio of safe package versions in the ecosystem. [Conclusions:] Python packages ship a lot of other people's code and tend to keep doing so. However, developers will have a good chance to choose a safe package version.TRIK robotics

Increasingly the next scientific discoveries and the next industrial innovative breakthroughs will depend on the capacity to extract knowledge and sense from gigantic amount of information. Examples vary from processing data provided by scientific instruments such as the CERN’s LHC; collecting data from large-scale sensor networks; grabbing, indexing and nearly instantaneously mining and searching the Web; building and traversing the billion-edges social network graphs; anticipating market and customer trends through multiple channels of information. Collecting information from various sources, recognizing patterns and distilling insights constitutes what is called the Big Data challenge. However, As the volume of data grows exponentially, the management of these data becomes more complex in proportion. A key challenge is to handle the complexity of data management on Hybrid distributed infrastructures, i.e assemblage of Cloud, Grid or Desktop Grids. In this talk, I will overview our works in this research area; starting with BitDew, a middleware for large scale data management on Clouds and Desktop Grids. Then I will present our approach to enable MapReduce on Desktop Grids. Finally, I will present our latest results around Active Data, a programming model for managing data life cycle on heterogeneous systems and infrastructures.

Alanna Falk is a Medical office manager for an endocrinologist.
She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is a trained medical assistant for over twenty years.
She has direct contact with the three providers in her office as well as the patients on a daily basis.
She performs the administrative aspect of the office and fills in where needed.
Overall she enjoys her office but at times feel that it is overwhelming with the amount of patients and being her doctor is one of two in the area for this specialty.
One problem that she is having is getting the patients to get onboard with the use of technology to simplify and reduce the amount of time spent filling paperwork out to include the cost in staff printing, ink and filing space. This often delays the patients getting in the back office to see the physicians on time even after they are checked in on time and it throws the whole schedule off for the day.
She would like to go paperless as possible and being that their scheduling team gets their information for the most part over the phone she would like to utilize tablets or a computer program that will help them become more efficient in the practice and maintain patient privacy.

The Relation between Heredity and Suicidal Behavior has many different experiments to use as examples. Some say that most individuals inherit the suicidal behavior and other does not. This paper will examine different experiments on the outcome of this topic and what might be influenced by genes that might run in a family. Then again there are the other factors that might show the influence of other suicidal behaviors. The outcome will provide different articles that will provide information on the behavior characteristics of suicidal behavior and what the interpersonal psychology theory of suicidal behavior just might be.

The Relation between Heredity and Suicidal Behavior
Introduction
The paper will focus on examining the relation between heredity and suicidal behavior and also look into the interpersonal psychology theory of suicidal behavior.
The paper will seek to affirm that suicidal behavior is influenced by genes that run in the family lineage and as such it could be inherited. Various theories can be used to explain the relationship between hereditary and suicidal behavior.
One these theories are Interpersonal psychology theory of suicidal behavior.
This theory provides
that, acquired capability, belongingness and burdensome are the 3 main determinants of suicidal behavior.
The paper will also provide articles review on the interpersonal psychology theory of suicidal behavior.
The Research questions
This paper is guided by the research question; what does the research show about the relation between heredity and suicidal behavior. This will help in formulating the best research methods and topics for the study.

Part of your discussion during today’s visit is about screening for colorectal cancers. He did endorse some constipation in the review of systems. He noted an uncle in his family history who was diagnosed at age 54 with colon cancer. You begin to talk about colorectal screening, and the patient interrupts you and tells you that he is only 47 and that he should not have to worry about it until he is 50.
