The Capital One Loan Origination System (CLO) deals with the underwriting and funding
processes for auto loans. An auto loan application can come into the CLO system through
various ways. Because of this the origination process is split into two main lines of business that
are treated differently:
Direct: Customer interacts directly with Capital One for auto loans. This would include internet
applications, refinance and some partner submitted applications. Direct applications are then
further segmented based on Prime and Subprime.
Dealer: Customer goes to dealership and dealer sends the application to Capital One. This line of
business is also sometimes referred to as indirect. Dealer applications are then further
segmented based on Prime, Subprime, CarMax is a chain for auto stores in US. All the auto loans
coming from CarMax stores are termed as CarMax apps with lob 203. , Pre-Approval, and
Dealership type (Diamond/Non-Diamond).
