 Dramatic Monologue is a type of lyric poem that
was perfected by Robert Browning through his
poems;
 My Last Duchess
 The Bishop Orders His Tomb
 Andrea del Sarto
 The Last Ride Together
Features
1.A single speaker, who is not a poet
2.A specific situation at a critical moment
3.The speaker addresses and interacts with one or more
other people
4.We know of the listener’s presence and what they say
and do only from the speaker’s discourse
5.The speaker reveals his temperament and character
through his speech
