Drafting The Double Page Spread
1) Formulate and Idea
I am going to write a profile/interview with an upcoming record producer
who produces R’n’B music, I am going to write about their past and
childhood, how they got into music, what they did to get noticed, people they
have worked with and their future plans. I will promote their new album that
they are releasing with a famous artist in the industry. My interview/profile
will be informal and I will use informal fonts.
2) Give your idea an angle
I will give my idea an angle by highlighting how young the record producer is
and how it is amazing how they are working with big R’n’B stars regardless of
their age. I will also make my profile/interview different by asking a few
questions from anonymous upcoming record producers who want to ask
questions about how they can succeed in the industry.
3) Create an outline
An outline for my interview/profile will be starting with an introduction of
the person I am going to feature; this will include their name, stage name (if
they have one) age and brief background information. After the introduction I
am going begin talking about where the record producer has came from, their
childhood, their family and school experiences. I will then move onto a new
section talking about how they got into music and producing, where they
practiced, developed their skills and how they got noticed. After this section I
am going to write about recent projects that the producer is involved in and
popular artists that they are working with. The final section will include
questions from anonymous producers who want guidance and help with
succeeding. In addition, at the bottom of my interview/profile I will have
small text to indirect advertise their latest single/album. All the way
throughout the profile/interview I am going to include several quotes that
refer back to a recent interview that I have done with the producer for the
block quote section. Examples of subheadings could be, ‘Where it all
began…’, ‘Who made it happen?’ and ‘What happens next?’.
4) Create a headline
An idea for a headline could be ‘16 and taking over the music world’, ‘16 with
a Grammy’, ‘9 GCSE’s and a Grammy Award’. Finally, ‘9 GCSE’s and 9 Million
records sold’. I want to include a fact about the record producer featured on
my magazine because I think that this makes it more serious and not that the
person is a joke. It will also attract the readers because it will surprise them
with the success. The target audience is also quite a serious target to write for
because they are going to be a bit older and less looking for gossip or funny
interviews like you would see featured in a pop genre magazine. Talking
about success in the headline will also attract them because the target
audience is stereotypically aspirers.
5) Grab the reader’s attention with a dynamic stand-first paragraph
16 and a GRAMMY? ………………… talks his childhood, how he got into the
industry and how Kanye West is asking about him!!!!!
6) Proceed with writing the body of text
An idea for my main body of text will be:
