This document provides an overview of a unit on historical fiction novels set during the American Revolution. It includes introductory questions to assess prior knowledge of key people and events. It then presents summaries of three novels covered in the unit: Johnny Tremain, which takes place in 1771 Boston; My Brother Sam Is Dead, set in 1775 Connecticut; and A Ride into Morning in 1780 New Jersey. Students are assigned one of the novels to explore further through interactive activities identifying settings and years, reading background articles, and creating a biography cube on the author.
