Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is derived from my own personal experience as an undergraduate student.
Starting my pharmacy studies, I was very passionate to learn but unfortunately, in my country,
teachers and teaching strategies are very traditional, the teaching environment is not ideal, there
are minimal interactions, minimal intellectual stimulation and minimal creativity, so my passion
for learning was not nourished the way it should be.
I believe that students get into their class rooms taking with them enthusiasm and optimistic
expectations to have their passion for learning satisfied and to have all their inquiries and
misunderstandings resolved. At this moment, teachers must be up to their expectations, they have
to be creative and to do all what it takes them to offer their students with a wide range of
innovative teaching and learning methods.
I believe that teaching is the best service I could provide to my community, inside the classroom,
I'm responsible for educating a new generation that would face the rapidly changing world, that's
why from the first moment as a teacher, I set my goals, I will not spoon feed my students the
information, I will not turn them into passive learners, instead, I will help them develop a lifelong
learning skills, I will enhance their analyzing abilities, I will encourage their scientific critical
thinking, generally I'll do my best to satisfy their passion of learning and to provide them with the
tools they need to function properly in the always challenging world.
I do not treat my students as a batch, I believe in the fact that students are different, they show
different abilities, different talents, they even come from different cultural and religious
backgrounds. Admitting their differences, makes me believe that they should be tackled in
different ways and from here I take with me into the classroom all my scientific and teaching
expertise, I make use of all possible resources such as videos, audios, work sheets, etc., I use
different methods of engagement such as Q&A, open discussions, group work, etc., I use different
means of assessment for learning outcomes to make sure that each individual student was capable
of achieving the lecture's objectives.
I believe that it's very important to build a rapport with my students, this provides a comfortable
teaching environment, encourages discussions and helps me personalize my teaching. I usually
find this positively reflected on my students.
Besides my teaching responsibilities, I'm a researcher. I believe that my research background
greatly reinforces my teaching, I transfer to my students the qualities I learn from research such as
ethical considerations, team work, critical analysis, etc.
I feel success when my students turn into an active participants in the education process rather
than passive learners, I feel success, the moment I find my students capable of engaging their
beliefs and values in the process of learning and at the same time capable of thinking critically of
the provided information and are able to analyze it in light of their background. I feel success
when I find my students perusing their career independently.
