PEE-WEE
The music industry is changing in to what you see here the rapper too the left is
one of the new wave of artists breaking through to the mainstream of the U.K
grime scene which is now the main type of music that the young ages of the
U.K listen too.
As you know the music industry is a huge and complex place,
making and breaking dreams for decades. The newest genre (the
newest one to come in to the lime light) is Grime. Mainly dom-
inated by young black males, this article focuses on the newest
addition to the U.K Grime roster the wild card and the unique
PEEWEE.
Hailing from Birmingham with idols such as K Koke, Skepta and
the old garage MC’s that where famous in his city. Ryan known
as PEE-WEE or Minnie squeaks by his friends and his fans isn’t
as rough and tumble, hard to the core as you would associate
with the grime genre and artists.
Instead he started from a good back ground, both parents where
there, good education and upbringing, but there was always
something there he said “there was always a passion that was
going to waste that I couldn’t get from anything else”.
“I want to live not just survive”. The notorious MC PEE-WEE is
known for his quick whit, lyrical genius and some times ab-
normal ego. The young white Birmingham rapper told us in an
interview that there is always something in life that will always
be in the back of your mind and it will always be there if you
don’t go out and catch it.
After dropping out of college he began to dabble with the idea
but never got up the courage to pursue his dream and passion,
always writing down lyrics but never been happy enough or sure
enough that his parents would support him. This was the case for
months until he met the man that would change his life.
“The Guru basically inspired me even more, he had nothing and
I had something. He didn’t care whether people where listening,
he just enjoyed releasing his passion on the world. He knew…he
knew one day people would listen and they would get the same
feeling as we do”.
MUMU, also known as “The Guru” by his friends and colleagues
was the one that introduced PEE-WEE in to the Grime scene
telling him to come up with new lyrics, always carry a note pad
with a pen for when ideas strike. PEE-WEE told us “Guru wasn’t
just an MC trying to give himself a name and get rich he was
a man with a talent and a dream of making Grime the biggest
genre in the U.K”.
Being one of the small numbers of white people in the grime
scene he is rapidly making a name for himself as the crazy
white boy. His no holds bared lyrics and unadulterated punch
lines and content are having a huge effect on his slowly devel-
oping reputation making him famous but not always for the
right reason.
Now known as the white boy of the grime scene he plays on
the identity that he’s been given and has started to dress and
act like a typical 80;s thug with his retro style and old school
britich attitude.
“Music was always there for me, now im here for music”
