The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke...
The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke
Poetry is made to express the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the poet. The reader can interpret
the poem however they see fit. Critics are undecided about the theme of Theodore Roethke s My
Papa s Waltz. Some people believe that the poem is one of a happy exchange between a father and
son. The more convincing interpretation is that it has a hidden message of parental abuse. Careful
analysis of the keywords and each individual stanza back up this theory of child abuse by a violent
and drunken father.
The word that is key to the poem is romp. Roethke states that we romped until the pans / slid from
the kitchen shelf (5 6). The word is usually associated with ... Show more content on

Most people would not associate a joyous event and death. For instance, when someone is on a
roller coaster, they hang on tight out of fear. The second stanza gives the details of how the
father was knocking over pans and shelves. No fun event would require continuous destruction to
the house. The reader also sees the mother in a seemingly helpless state as the father continues to
damage the house. She seems to be in a state of dismay as her husband carries on his behavior.
Her frown shows that his actions sadden her but she is powerless to stop him. One would think
that a smile would be more appropriate. This supports the abuse aspect because she would not be
frowning if it was a joyous exchange between the son and father.
In the last two stanza s, Roethke describes the vivid details of the beating. He describes how one
hand clinches the boy s wrist. Clinch seems to be a rather strong word and it indicates a use of
forceful grabbing. If this were a happy dance, the author would not use such a strong description.
Lines 11 12 shows how the father tries to hit the son but due to his intoxication he misses and
grazes the son s ear with the belt buckle. The fourth and final stanza sums up the feelings of the
boy towards the father. The words seem to be directly spoken to the dad. This is not the first time
this type of action has taken place. The reader gets this interpretation because the boy says, you beat
time on my head

Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Essay examples
Acute lymphocytic leukemia is also called acute lymphoblastic leukemia or ALL. This disease is
primarily when the white blood cell, WBC, making tissue releases too many undeveloped
lymphocytes. The immature lymphocytes then collect in lymph tissues. The tissues swell which
makes it harder for the bone marrow to produce other bloodcells. If the bone marrowcannot function
properly the red blood cell, RBC, count decreases causing anemia. The bone marrow also cannot
create the platelets needed to cause clots, therefore resulting in the body bleeding and bruising more
easily. The lymphocytes can also invade other organs, impairing their ability to function properly.
ALL accounts for twenty five percent of cancers affecting children under the... Show more content

The leukemic cells start in either B or T lymphocytes. Approximately 80% of cases start with
immature B cells. One to two percent are mature B cells. Fifteen to twenty percent of all cases
are derived from T cells. These cases are associated with cases that occur in older males and a
need for a higher dosage of chemotherapy. In addition, the chromosomes play an important part in
the diagnosis of the subtype of ALL. The TEL AML1 fusion gene can indicate an early B cell type
of leukemia. This gene also indicates a favorable prognosis. The bcr abl t translocation gene is
seen in three to five percent of all cases. Those diagnosed with ALL that have this gene will have
a higher WBC count and a poorer prognosis. A rearrangement of the MLL gene accounts for 80%
of infant ALL cases. The prognosis for this is poor despite the use of high intensity
chemotherapeutics. There is only a twenty percent survival rate (Esparza, Sakamoto, 2005).
Manifestation of the Disease When diagnosing ALL a complete patient history is taken. The client
would present with weakness, pallor, and fatigue indicating anemia. The client would be feeling
pain in the bones and below the ribs. The client would experience headache from increased cranial
pressure (Cancer, 2010). The client would also be prone to secondary infection due to the
decreased production of immature WBC. This would present with fever and sweating. The client

A Research Study Of The Airius Air Pear With Phi Cell Units
As a company, you have already done your research and began stepping in the proper direction
for creating an overall sanitary and healthy atmosphere for your guests and employees. At the
moment, I believe you have just under 7 of the Airius Air Pear with PHI cell units in your
facility, that have been purchased over the past few months in multiple orders. With my study of
these products, I ve come to realize the the great impact they can have on your environment.
Typically, where I would love to find and highlight all of the negative things about the Airius
products vs. ours, there is truly only one, which I will point out later. However, there are a few
major points to consider when comparing our products to theirs. The Airius Air Pear with PHI
cell (which is the unit(s) you have currently), are designed to equal out the temperature of the air
in a room while emitting Ionized Hydro Peroxides to sanitize and disinfect all of the air and
surfaces. These units have a cost to you of $2,000 each with a recommended 1500 2000 sq ft
operating space and are FDA approved. The unit is also designed to last for 2yrs with a $300
parts replacement to renew and must be done by your staff. The unit will also need to be
maintained by your staff throughout the years. The one negative aspect I mentioned before, is that
while emitting these Ionized Hydro Peroxides, the unit also emits a small level of ozone (as quoted
on their product description) which has been shown to be harmful

Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church
Getting to Heaven
Some keep the Sabbath going to Church 236
In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church, the theme is that there is more than one way
to get to Heaven(1, 1668). The persona suggests that this is true because they still have a
relationship with God; they just worship differently than what is accepted by society. In the line
that reads, And an Orchard, for a dome, Dickinson uses imagery to paint a picture for the reader(4,
1668). The image is an orchard of trees that provides her with a safe place for worship instead of the
traditional church sanctuary. She is suggesting that nature, the things unspoiled by humankind, is
whatone really needs for worship and gaining a relationship with God. The practices that many
religions believe have to be performed are unnecessary because God is with you all the time and
not just when you are in church. It is just as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first line of the last stanza she writes God preaches, a noted Clergyman (9, 1668). This is
inferring that she gets her spiritual food directly from God; there is no need for a middle man.
There is a practice used by a well known religion that a person needs to confess their sins to their
priest in order to be forgiven of them and made new. This is another way that a middle man is
used in religious practices. The Bible reads no one comes to the Father except through me (John
14:6). Dickinson is going by the words of the Bible instead of the words of mankind. The final
two lines of the poem read So instead of getting to Heaven, at last I m going, all along (11, 1668).
The connotation of these words relay to the reader that along with all the church goers she, the
one who exercises her own, individual beliefs and practices, will be right there with them going
to Heaven. It s almost as if she is obnoxiously poking at the religious people of her time proving
that you don t have to always do things a specific

Throughout This Semester I Have Learned A Lot From Family
Throughout this semester I have learned a lot from Family Relationships and Gender Roles.
Although I have been fortunate to have very healthy and happy relationships in my life there is
one past relationship I was a part of that was very toxic. It was with my ex boyfriend of two
years. Although the relationship ended over a year ago I feel as if the material we have
discussed in class has in a way, provided some final closure for me. There have been many times
in class when I have thought Wow! Now, I can understand why that relationship wasn t successful. I
can also admit that I have learned more about myself and the things I may have done that hindered
the relationship. In order to analyze the past relationship, I will give some... Show more content on

Even looking back on the relationship I still can confidently say we communicated very well in the
early stages of the relationship. I felt comfortable communicating with him about small conflicts or
any of my wants and needs and I truly believe he felt the same way. Our communication didn t seem
to be an issue until after the first cheating incident. I think that this is because up until the cheating
incident I had no reason to suspect he was not telling me things and I never felt a secretive or
flighty vibe from him. After being cheated on I can admit that my communication skills with him
started to change. Within one day everything had changed. I had not fallen out of love but instead
of a sincere love it felt more like a constant sting to the heart whenever I thought of what he had
done to me. I found myself bouncing back in forth between emotions of extreme hurt, anger, and
self pity.
Dr. Thompson talked to the class about the Four Horseman which are danger signals in a
relationship. I realized that I could identify each of these danger signals within my past
relationship. After being cheated on I think I subconsciously felt the need to make him feel the
same pain that he had put me through. I used criticism as a way to make small jabs at him and
tear him down. I knew I was able to get away with this because these small jabs paled in

been uproar after the president of Uganda signed a bill in parliament outlawing homosexuality.
The media has always been blamed of being bias while reporting on gay marriages and

R. E. M s Song Find The River
R.E.M s song, Find the River , has many shared images and symbols with Herman Hesse s novel,
Siddhartha . In reading both the book and Michael Stipes lyrics, one can imagine that Stipe was
familiar with the Hesse book. The book tells the story of Siddhartha, a young Brahmin who chooses
to leave the comfort of family and home to find his spiritual truth. During the story Siddharthahas a
son who decides that he must seek his own knowledge and comfort through materialism. It is
possible to read Michael Stipe s song as Siddhartha sharing the lessons he has learned on his

The song begins with telling the listener that they need to slow down and consider a different
path to wisdom, Hey now, little speedy head, the read on the speed meter says, you have to go to
task in the city . The song encourages the listener to do as the speaker has done, I have got to
leave to find my way . This is heard in the beginning of Siddhartha, when he decides to leave his
father s home, He had begun to suspect that his worthy father and his other teachers, the wise
Brahmins, had already passed onto him the bulk and best of their wisdom, that they had already
poured the sum total of their knowledge into his waiting vessel and the vessel was not full.
(pp.5). Stipe repeats the same idea when he says, I have got to find the river, Bergamot and
vetiver run through my head and fall away . Bergamot and Vetiver are common incense tools used
in Hindu temples and religious rituals, and the speaker in Find the River , seems to say these tools
run through his mind but are of no use, and that he must find the truth through finding his river .
He repeats this encouragement in the last stanza , There is nothing left to throw of ginger, lemon,
indigo, coriander stem and rose of hay. Strength and courage overrides the privileged and weary
eyes . Again, the speaker is imagining tools of his religion and overcoming the weariness

Summary Of Thomas Paine The American Crisis
Thomas Paine s The American Crisis was written as a sixteen pamphlet sequence during the
Revolutionary War era. Through his writing, Paine expresses his feelings over Britain s control
over the colonies. Essentially, his purpose is to rouse the colonists and soldiers to rise up to take
further action against Britain s tyranny. Therefore, The American Crisis utilizes Paine s and God s
credibility to convince readers to take action, appeals to their logic through analogies, and evokes
emotional rage from the colonists against the British.
Thomas Paine s own credibility and God s credibility are emphasized in Paine s essay in order to
convince the readers to embrace his viewpoint on independence from Britain. Paine stated, I have
as little superstition in me as any man living, but my secret opinion has ever been, and still is, that

Paine claims that if a thief breaks into [his] house, burns and destroys [his] property, and kills or
threatens to kill [him], or those that are in it, and to bind [him] in all cases whatsoever, to his
absolute will, is [he] to suffer it? Paine is clearly comparing Britain s king to a thief because the
king is depriving the colonists of their liberty. This analogy and rhetorical question affirms, once
again, that colonists need to stand up against British rule because like with a thief, the people
would not stand by and let Britain s king commit a crime against them. Also, when Paine mentions
that Britain would bind him in all cases whatsoever, he implies that under Britain s rule they would
be like slaves. Just like slaves are bonded to their masters, the colonists would be ultimately chained
to British rule. Thus, the notion of becoming like slaves would evoke rage among the colonists and

The Cause And Effects Of Academic Dishonesty
People are always tend to choose the easiest way in every task they are asked to do in their
everyday activities. We also tend to cheat and cheating became so trend nowadays, so students start
cheating in their collage and cheating became more prevalent today. However there are a lot of
reasons that made students tend to cheat in their college. This article will show the causes and the
effects of academic dishonestyand cheating.
According to Howard (2014), As our culture changes, college campuses became more competitive
and internet already gave us new forms of cheating, it seems so weird that the percentage of
students cheating would remain the same. This clearly indicates that whatever is being changing to
stop cheating today hasn t worked.
According to Ralph Heizbutzki blog, showed us why students tend to cheat in different categories.
These categories were like institutional apathy and self interest.
The first reason that made students cheat was institutional apathy, it encourage students to cheat as
they don t see their academic environment as it deserves their honesty. Just like cheating in
Monopoly deal is easier to justify them avoiding its tax. If students don t believe their university

Examples Of Greed In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s inferno, Dante first begins describing himself in a dark forest and in the distance on
top of a mountain sees paradise where his love, Beatrice, resides. He then begins making his way
to the mountain when he sees 3 creatures, a lion, a leopard and a she wolf. He then meets the
spirit of Virgil, who was a roman poet. Virgil guides Dante through the 9 rings of hell
in order for
Dante to reach Beatrice. They begin at Limbo, Where those who didn t identify as being Christians

There were two types of greed a person would have had, those who hoarded possessions, and
those who carelessly spent them. The punishment was to have an unstoppably heavy weight
suppressed onto one s chest to represent the drive a person had to keep or carelessly spend their
riches/possessions. In this ring Dante saw men of the clergy, including popes and cardinals. I
would closely relate greed to gluttony because the overconsumption of food is basically being
greedy and not sharing with others, even though these two are closely related, I still stand by with
rearranging lust and gluttony because I feel greed is much worse. With Christianity, for the most
part, everyone would go out of their way to help one another. I feel this is mostly among the
poorer people because they would appreciate one another s efforts and open to sharing and
trading what they could muster. As for people such as some kings, popes, and higher classes,
since they had their riches, and far more positions, sharing was not on their agenda, again I m not
saying all higher class people did this. For those who carelessly spend their riches, they only think
about themselves rather than helping out the poor. I can think of quite a few people now a day s
that would definitely be ing this ring. I would keep this as the fourth ring because it s not the worst

Rumination Theory
Rumination disorder can be attributed to the infant experiencing vomiting from an acute illness,
and then having a disturbed mother infant relationship, in which the infant learns to regurgitate and
re chew the food in order to self soothe and relieve tension (Sadock, Sadock, Ruiz, 2009, p. 3606).
Rumination historically has been considered a self stimulatory behavior that arises in the context of
longstanding social deprivation, and maternal behavior may appear to be neglectful or slavishly
attentive (Benninga, M. A., Nurko, S., Faure, C., Hyman, P. E., Roberts, I. S. Schechter, N. L.,
2016, p. 1446). Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners need to be aware that the development
of rumination disorder may be due to a past gastrointestinal condition. Further investigation on what
kind of gastrointestinal problems the infant may have is important as well as whether or not the
infant was treated. In addition to this, assessing for a disturbed mother infant relationship is
important for detection of psychosocial factors that may be responsible for the development of the

Fort was complete on June 15th in a triangular shape of about two acres with three bulwarks. This
was not an easy task for these men.
They had to dig a nine hundred foot trench, along with cutting down and hauling tree that could
have easily have weight about eight hundred pounds all while having Native Americans shooting at
them (Kelso 2006:16). It is thought that the Virginia Indians played a role in the location and
survival of Jamestown. The English were in Powhatan s territory, and the island had a natural
defense from their enemies making it the safest place to be, even if it was not a geographically
ideal location. Powhatan was considered one of the most powerful chiefs claiming to have over a
hundred children. Powhatan died in 1618 and his brother, Opechancanough led an attack on the
English in 1622 and 1644. Pocahontas would befriend John Smith and marry John Rolfe in 1613

The Confederate Flag, By Winston Churchill
As Winston Churchill stated, The flags of the Confederate States of America were very important
and a matter of great pride to those citizens living in the confederacy. They are also a matter of
great pride for their descendants as part of their heritage and history, but in present day, the
American people are claiming the meaning of the confederate flag is hate and discrimination. In
South Carolina, the confederate flag was taken down and placed in a museum after a heated
debate stemming from a mass shooting of nine black churchgoers in a historical Charleston
church during bible study. The shooter, Dylann Roof, was a white supremacist. A photograph of
Roof emerged showing him holding a confederate flag which fueled the political flag debate.
The confederate flag is at the center of the controversy over racism. Although, it was first created
as an official flag of confederacy, the confederate flag has changed into what is now either a
symbol of Southern heritage and pride or slavery and racism by Americans. It is time to put this
flag in a museum to be honored by those it means something to and no longer stand as a reminder
of the division our country once suffered, so we can move on as a nation, united.
A total of five confederate flags have been fashioned, three official flags of the confederacy and
two battle flags, but the one causing the most debate is the Navy Jack flag from a Tennessee battle
ship during the Civil War. This is a rectangular flag displaying a red

Paragraph About Apartheid
Do you ever think about what happened years ago in South Africa? Do you ever imagine that
people were treated unfairly? This really happened, that hard time in South Africa is called
Apartheid. Apartheid is an official policy of a racial segregation. It strictly separated people by
color. This system started in 1948 by the National Party Government in South Africa. However,
they considered that it ended in 1994 because it was when Nelson Mandela became that first
black president. Apartheid was built on earlier laws but made segregation more rigid. All
Government action and the response were decided according to the policy of apartheid. Labour
was in evidence during this period. Under Apartheid, Africans who were non white would be forced

Study of Milestone 3 s Mobile Phone Implementation Plan
Milestone 3: Mobile Phone Implementation Plan Technology or Business Practices For
Milestone to be successful with their mobile platform strategy their strength of integration needs
to progress beyond TCP/IP and encompass the emerging technologies and standards that will lead
to tablets becoming the dominant development platform of the future. At the center of these
technologies are secured enterprise access encryption and remote management support including
device wide wipe and replace security architectures (Gold, 2011). These technologies make it
possible for Milestone to manage each of their applications remotely and also completely erase
the contents of a device if it is lost or stolen. A second major design criterion is to create an
effective Application Programmer Interface (API) architecture that allows for any of the
Milestone applications and associated resource calls including database integrations to gain real
time access speeds (Proffitt, 2011). The expectation customers have for smartphone and tablet PC
access today includes real time performance at a minimum with periodic application updates not
requiring reboot of the device required (The Economist, 2011). This is the new normal when it
comes to device performance and requires an intensive level of integration within a given device in
addition to database and system integration requirements. Apple has been able to successful

Classroom Management In The Classroom
Classroom management is one of the most essential elements of teaching. Classroom management
refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized,
orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class . Therefore, without
good classroom management the classroom will not be an environment of learning, rather it will be
an environment of chaos. My personal philosophy of educationpulls elements from three different
models assertive discipline, CHAMPS, and capturing kids hearts. The main goal of the assertive
discipline model is to put the teacher in charge of the classroom. However, teachers are also
expected to treat students as their allies in the learning experience. Although there are elements of
assertive discipline that I do not agree with, my idea of discipline in the classroom aligns best with
this model. When using assertive discipline, the teacher decides on the class rules before school
begins. The teacher also has a system of both positive and negative consequences in place.
Additionally, consequences occur in a hierarchy system, known as the discipline hierarchy. The
discipline hierarchy is a system of between 3 6 different consequences that become harsher as a
student continues to misbehave. For a first offense, the student is simply given a warning. If the
student continues to misbehave than the second and third time they are taken out of an activity.
The fourth time the parents are

Analysis Of Basel III
a)CET1 ratio
According to the result in Table 11, the CET1 ratio is statistical significant in the model under

expected. If simply analyze from the empirical result, 1 percentage point increase of the common

Consequently, the CET1 ratio are supposed to have a negative relationship with the probability of

b)RWA ratio
The RWA ratio is not statistical significant in our model and the potential reason has been
discussed. As shown in the line graph in the Appendix 3, the RWA ratio of the sample countries
showed a trend of fluctuating downward during the period of 2005 to 2016, except China. The
RWA ratio of China rose with fluctuations during the period of 2005 to 2012, then it declined
gradually after 2013. In addition, the RWA ratio of the other nine countries declined sharply in
the 2008 financial crisis, which might cause the increase of the CET1 ratio during the crisis. Even
after 2008, the RWA ratio of several countries still decrease gradually, which is a manipulation by
the banking industry. Moreover, the RWA ratio of Greece decreased significantly from 2008 to
2010, and it indicated that Greece suffered both financial crisis and debt crisis.
Purely focus on the risk weighted asset itself, following the financial crisis, it has become quite
important in terms of determining a bank s risk and a potential for calamity. Risk weighted assets
are the amount of bank s assets such as stocks,

Now, the quality improvement department will need to determine what processes can be modified
to improve outcomes. For example, if they see an increase in pressure sores and prevalence of
restraints. They could use computerized charting and order entry, along with the evidence based
guidelines, to identify specific groups of patients who are vulnerable to developing pressure ulcers
or closely monitoring use of restraints. With early identification, automatic orders for preventive
interventions can be implemented quickly. With the assistance of the automated consults and
orders, the appropriate equipment, the interdisciplinary task force, continuing education, and
monitoring, the hospital system would be able to reduce unnecessary use of restraints and hospital
acquired pressure ulcer prevalence rate (Cherry amp; Jacob, 2010).
Then, they would need to implement core measures and protocols. Continuously track performance
and outcomes. Lastly, they can disseminate results to throughout the hospital to increase quality

Anderson instructed that these organizations were positioned at Fort Moultrie. Perceiving that Fort
Moultrie was defenseless against an area attack, Anderson chose to surrender it for the all the more

Portryal of Andy as a Symbol of Hope in Shawshank...
In 1994, Frank Darabont s film The Shawshank Redemption received a poor reception when
released; it only made a $0.3m profit. More recently the film has become known as one of the
greatest movies of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight,
leave abusive marriages and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea
of hope. Andy Dufresne is a Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected
murder of his wife and her lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along
with the other convicts, saving them from institutionalisation. One of the ways in which Andy

Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope
can drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown
in the light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in
the film, an example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly
by the prison guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was
his name? . This hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the
film, when everybody becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards
and consequently wins three bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are
regularly shown laughing together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects
hope into the eyes of the viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica
illuminate this point when Red begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an
icon of hope; it is used throughout the whole film in various different ways, to express and
exaggerate different emotions that the characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of
emotions and the feelings towards the idea of hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making
the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the viewer. The main use of Music

An Engineered Wonder of the World
An Engineered Wonder of the World This bridge needs neither praise, eulogy nor encomium. It
speaks for itself. We who have labored long are grateful. What Nature rent asunder long ago,
man has joined today. This is a quote from Joseph Strauss, the engineer that designed the Golden
Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is truly a piece of engineering excellence. It stretches for
almost 9,000 feet over the San Francisco Bay, in San Francisco, California. The bridge has faced
many problems during the designing process, construction, and even to this day it produces
controversy. The final result of the bridge, however, is an amazing engineering feat that will be

The rest of the pressure is supported by the cables. These vertical cables receive the bridge`s
tension forces. The Golden Gate Bridge is a textbook suspension bridge (Lamb, Robert, and
Michael Morrissey). Thus, with all of the designs and made, the Golden Gate Bridge was ready
to be built. To continue, it was January 5th, 1933, when construction officially started on the
bridge. The two anchorages of the bridge were the first parts to be built. The first of the two to
be built was on the San Francisco side of the bay. The other on the Marin side of the bay. The
San Francisco tower access trestle was then started. It extended for more than 1,000 feet off
shore. Unfortunately, a major setback was met on August 14, 1943. On this date, a steamship
crashed into the access trestle, and damaged almost 400 feet. The repairs were not completed for
another four months. Then to make matters worse, the trestle was battered again, but for 800 feet
of damage this time. Another four months were needed for these repairs. Next up was the Marin
tower. As previously stated, suspension bridges have two towers, and this was the first of the two
built. There were no problems faced in the construction of the tower, and it was completed in
about a year. The San Francisco tower was built next. Then the cables were put on, and finally on
November 18th, 1936, the two sections of the bridge were joined in the middle. After this, the

Essay on Old Man And The Sea
Old Man and The Sea
quot; The great DiMaggio is himself again! quot;(21), in Ernest Hemingway s novel,
The Old Man and the Sea, which takes place near Havana, Cuba in the Caribbean
Sea, a very old, unlucky, fisherman sets out for the big catch. The great
DiMaggio is seamed throughout the novel to symbolize the old man and his struggle to catch the
big fish, yet also he poses as a role model for Santiago
(the old man).
The old man is using the great DiMaggio for a role model. At a certain point in the struggle to
catch this great fish, the old man begins to cramp up in his left hand, do to the fish pulling so
strenuously on the line.
Where as the great DiMaggio (during this time) is struggling with a bone spurn his ankle, yet still ...

When thinking of the great DiMaggio, the old man remembers to give himself more confidence,
and in doing so thinks back to his younger years when he was referred to as the champion because
of an arm wrestling match. This gave the old man more strength and will to push on and fight the
fish until he wins.
Also this image of DiMaggio reminds him he must be very strategical, and do everything right,
despite any cramps in his hand.
There is hard evidence that shows that DiMaggio symbolizes the old man.
Previously Joe DiMaggio had been struggling in his profession of baseball, due to a bone spur in
his heel. The whole team struggled because DiMaggio was the main hope to the Yankee s team.
Now in the case of the old man, who had previously struggled to catch a fish because of his
newly developed unluckiness, struggles in his life because he has not caught a fish and in turn,
has no money to buy the necessities for life. Well as soon as DiMaggio picked up his game and
started to play at a whole new level, the old man hooked into a great big marlin, and started a fight
that would change his life. Not to mention the fact that DiMaggio played outstanding even though
he suffered from a bone spur in his heel. As did the old man out struggle and out think the fish even
though he suffered from a temporary cramp in his left hand. All of this shows how

Reflective Essay On Leadership
I still struggle with feeling like there are enough hours in the day to do everything that needs to
be done. I find that there are still many days that I will work 10 hours, then handle family
commitments, then exercise, then try to spend time with friends, only to find that it s time to go
to bed and I haven t checked everything off my to do list. I have been trying to improve upon
this skill in a few ways including, choosing to be proactive, carefully considering how making a
commitment impacts my overall well being, and using a new calendar so that I can clearly see
what commitments I have already made and how adding a new one would impact my schedule.
Finally, there were two categories that I am currently working on improving which include begin
with the end in mind, and put first thing first. While these weren t m lowest scores, I do feel like
there is a great deal of room for growth within myself here. Now that I have a better understanding
of my leadership strengths and weaknesses, and hope to use this data to grow into an outstanding
leader that inspires others.
When reviewing my survey, I was able to see the areas I excel in and the areas that need
improvement. Based on these results, I think that the leadership that best describes my actions is
situational leadership theory. The situational Leadership theory says that there is no one method
solves all approach to leadership and that the situation will dictate what the correct action should be.

Charles Babbbage Research Paper
Charles Babbage was born on December 26, 1791, somewhere in the vicinity of London, England.
Babbage s family was made up of father Benjamin a wealthy bank owner; mother Elizabeth, sister
Mary Anne, and two brothers who died in early childhood. Babbage showed an early interest in
human like machines as his motherwould take him to museums and amusement halls famous for
housing these machines in the early 1800s (Isaacson 18 19). Here, Babbage saw a robot woman
who seemed to dance with a grace that only a human could hold, and he was quoted as saying, her
eyes were full of imagination. Charles Babbage grew up a sickly child, worrying his parents to the
point that they requested for him to be taught by a pastor, focusing on his health rather... Show more

Babbage had heard of God through Scriptures and Bible Stories he was told as a child, and he
made up his mind to trust in the Lord as the Creator and Ruler of all things. The Analytical
Society as a whole also agreed on this, and the men in the group, including Babbage, devoted
their careers to proving the existence of God as well as to Scientific Achievement ( Charles
Babbage 4). Now, during the early stages of the Industrial Revolution the idea of atheistic
science began to rise, as did the careers of scientists like Charles Darwin. The side opposing this
atheistic perspective was known as Natural Theology. Babbage was a strong supporter of this
supporter and its belief that the design of nature required a Designer, and that this Designer was
God. He was a part of a project later in his life known as the Bridgewater Treatises that was a
collection of writings attempting to advance the popularity of Natural Theology. In these
papers, it is obvious that Babbage s ultimate goal was to connect the world of mathematics and
science to Scripture ( Babbage 2). Babbage did this by using his mathematical expertise to prove
certain aspects of Scripture and to argue against atheist scientists, mainly David Hume (
Babbage 3). As his career progressed, Babbage began to conform to the atheistic ideas of science
at the time; however, he seemed to return to his roots as, at age seventy three, he stated, [...] the
belief in the existence of one Supreme Creator, possessed of infinite wisdom and power, is open
to far fewer difficulties than the supposition of the absence of any cause, or of the existence of a
plurality of causes ( Babbage 4). Here, Babbage looks at theology from a logical point of view,
pointing out how the belief in one Creator is simply more logical than believing in many different
causes of creation. Babbage

Essay On A Life On Meditation
What is meditation? What are the advantages of meditation in day by day life? Have you ever
practiced meditation when you are stressed? There are countless questions that we ask every day.
This is what Mai Samih tries to answer in her article the benefits of meditation and its effect on

The more familiar our brain is with inspiration, the more quiet and more serene it gets to be. At
the point when our brain is quiet we are free from anxiety and mental uneasiness, and we

the best outside conditions we won t be glad one of the most ideal to learn is using breathing

Portability Of The Electrical Hardware Housing Structure...
Portability
Many properties of our prototype contributed to its portability. The electrical hardware housing
structure for our prototype measured in at 7.375 x 6.375 x 5.000 , which allowed for a small yet
fully functional device. These relatively small dimensions allowed us to easily transport our
prototype without concern of having to make accommodations for its size. Our prototype was
composed of simple PVC plastic sheets. We cut these sheets to the desired dimensions and attached
them using bent aluminum sheet metal. We used 6 32 threaded nuts and bolts to fasten the metal
angle brackets to the PVC sheets. This combination of materials and fasteners used to create the
housing structure for our electrical components made for a strong, yet lightweight prototype. This
strength allowed for our structure to be free standing and added a component of durability without
adding to the size or weight significantly. Also, this housing structure contained all of our wires and
components meaning that there were no extraneous pieces protruding from the structure. This
uniform structure kept components from getting snagged by outside materials during transport. By
producing the prototype from these materials at the given dimensions, we were able to create a
prototype structure that displayed durability, strength, and functionality while remaining quite
portable.

The United States Trade Policy
Since the early 1930s, tariff reduction has been the prevalent theme of United States trade policy.
In the future, economic historians will put an emphasis on the way the liberalization of trade over
the past forty to sixty years has molded this particular trade policy. Since 1930, tariffs have been
gradually reduced to roughly twenty percent of the regular level they were back then. This is a
direct result of a sequence of eight multilateral negotiations and around thirty bilateral agreements.
However, in order to completely understand why tariff reduction has been a prevalent theme since
the 1930s, one must consider the changes that have directly affected the Unites States backing of
trade liberalization. There are many things that have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the war had ended in 1945, the Democratic Party had already put together a proposal that
sought for the reduction of tariff power given to Congress and more importantly, a multilateral
trade organization. This proposal put together by the Roosevelt administration was a direct result
of the belief that the United States must take the lead to address the lack of an open world
economy during the 1930s. It was believed by the party that this lack of an open world economy
contributed to the cause of the war. In the process to ratify a liberal international economic order,
Democratic leaders were able to gain the backing of other Democratic members through the support
of a trade policy position that had been supported

Business Strategy For Competitive Advantage
Pre requisite Module: Business Strategy for competitive advantage Previous Module:
Introduction to people management (Hill, 2009) state Molex s competitive advantage is based
on a strategy that blends low costs, excellent customer service, and the mass production of
standardized products that are sold globally . Using a pre requisite module like business strategy
for competitive advantage, it can be assumed that Molex are using theoretical concepts from
porters generic strategies like focused low cost and differentiation in order to gain an advantage
over their competitors as previously mentioned in the case study. (Sowell, 2006) further
illustrates this point stating firms like Molex will drive their cost lower through investments in
plant efficiencies . Linking this back to (Hill, 2009) where it goes on to say that manufacturing
sites are located in countries where cost conditions are favorable . We can therefore see that
these countries, which are cost favorable, were not chosen at random, but instead selected using a
focused low cost strategy. This informs companies like Molex to invest their resources in plant
efficiencies, further suggesting that these plant efficiencies means an area where capacity
utilization can be met but keeping both fixed and variable costs low. This favorable country that
is not specified in the case study, could be less developed a country where exchange rate is
favorable to the US dollar. Hitt et al. (2006) states a

New Era Greed Of The Grocery Store Essay
New Era Greed
I.Introduction
A.The grocery store seems like an everyday simplistic duty that everyone in American society has
to do to feed their family. Yet there is a lot of trust that goes on through the process. Consumers are
made unaware of where the products come from and not only that trust is slowly diminishing with
online grocery shopping.
B.A once personal task is becoming impersonal as we progress. Globalization and the technological
advancements have made it it difficult for the consumer to actually know what they are getting and
changing the idea of the grocery store all together.
C.Consumer food demands has made a corner mom and pop grocer to a fast, mass, and globally
producing supermarket and there is a price to pay.
II.Background

grocers were a small store where the store owner or associate will have to retrieve the item in order
for you to buy it.
1.Grocers often sold dry items such as spice, pepper, coffee, tea, sugar sometimes vegetables and
often times canned goods. If a customer wanted to buy poultry or some baked goods they often
had to take a second trip to the local butcher and baker.
B.A P was new grocer that only sold items that they new would sell fast. A P was designed to
present itself as the cheaper way to grocery shop making it more appealing.

Have you ever heard a flute and an oboe play in an orchestra? They sound extremely different from
one another even when they are playing a tone at the same frequency and for the same duration of

components, but the most common is the material in which the instrument is crafted (Source 1).

Leonardo had written several other books, which unfortunately were lost. These books included
Di minor guisa and Elements. Di minor guisa contained information on commercial
mathematics. His book Elements was a commentary to Euclid s Book X. In Book X, Euclid had
approached irrational numbers from a geometric perspective. In Elements, Leonardo utilized a
numerical treatment for the irrational numbers. Practical applications such as this made
Leonardo famous among his contemporaries. Leonardo s book Liber abbaci was published in
1202. He dedicated this book to Michael Scotus. Scotus was the court astrologer to the Holy
Roman Emperor Fredrick II. Leonardo based this book on the mathematics and algebra that he
had learned through his travels. The name of the book Liber abbaci means book of the abacus or
book of calculating. This was the first book to introduce the Hindu Arabic place value decimal
system and the use of Arabic numerals in Europe. Liber abbaci is predominately about how to
use the Arabic numeral system, but Leonardo also covered linear equations in this book. Many of
the problems Leonardo used in Liber abacci were similar to problems that appeared in Arab
sources. Liber abbaci was divided into four sections. In the second section of this book, Leonardo

Example Of A Worldview Essay
A worldview is a set of basic beliefs about the nature of reality. It affects the way a person
behaves and responds to different circumstances. When young, our worldview is influenced by
parents, who tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come
to shape worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal.
Whether theist or atheist, it is critical to know what we consider to be our responsibility towards
everyone and everything around us. In this paper, I talk about views of a number of scientists about
Godand creation and the impact of these beliefs on their approach to science. In addition, we will
look at different natural phenomena and what they tell us about the Intelligence design behind
them. I will also discuss the effects of human actions on the environment and what can be done to
keep it clean.
Isaac Newton is one of the most prominent scientists in recent times. He is known for his
contribution on understanding gravity, and he contributed a lot in calculus. Many thinkers and
scientists of his time tried to explain everything using science excluding the role of God in their
explanation. Unlike them, Newton was a strong religious person. He believed in a personal God

King Ashurnasirpal s Relief Essay
The relief, consisted of five panels, functions both as a religious representation as well as
imposing the king s power. Stone Panel in Bas relief was once lined the inner walls of the
Northwest Palace of King Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud. Nimrud, located on the Tigris River in
northern Iraq, was the capital of Assyria during Ashurnasirpal II s reign. The bas relief visually
communicates its viewer by possessing a more peaceful but equally imposing iconography,
depicting Ashurnasirpal s ritual activities in the company of human attendants and supernatural
figures. The stone reliefs were carved in gypsum. Gypsum was a soft stone that was locally
available, which possibly represents the king s approachability. In contrast, the reliefs are

All figures were carved in twisted perspective, displaying a frontal torso with a right facing
profile head and body. This type of perspective allows the viewer to capture the depiction of the
arms as they complete an action. King Ashurnasirpal II appears on right of the panel. He can be
identified from his fez type head dress, a symbol of power and prestige. He is depicted with his
long hair and square beard, which are both highly stylized. He is wearing a long garment, which
exposes his muscular forearms and also his sandaled feet are visible. This portray the toughness
of life in Assyria, denoting back to his powerful control. Furthermore, the king stands very stiff
and upright, suggesting his rigidness. He is holding a bow in his left hand and two upward
pointing arrows symbolizing defense and protection from harm in his right hand that is raised
upward. His supreme status was conveyed through the rich decorative details that appear on his
shoulder. Taking a closer look, one can see the bull and lion battle. Once again, the symbolic
imagery evidently offers the viewer clues to its meaning. The bull and lion represents the Assyrians
fierce nature and asserts the king s fighting skills and brutality. The importance of the king is made
evident by his activities and position within the scultpte

Extended Definition Of Hero
A hero is someone who rises everyone to do what s right. If you were to ask someone off the
street what a hero is, they ll more than the likely reply that a hero is a handsome man that is
muscular and can fly. If you were to search hero on Google you get two definitions, 1.) a person,
typically a man, who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, and or noble qualities.
The second definition is a submarine sandwich. Of course, we are looking for the first definition
(maybe the second for lunch). Everyone has a hero, their inspiration (mine is Gabe Newell) who
they aspire and wish to be. When it comes to heroes, they shine the light where there is darkness. A

outsmarted them and ultimately destroyed their ship(Rick and Morty2). What makes him a hero
is outsmarting alien scammers and probably saved a lot of aliens of getting scammed. His
intelligence is what makes Rick a hero (and often a villain). If applied to a hero, they can save
more lives and do some quick thinking in split second scenarios.
When it comes to heroism, no hero is perfect and every hero has its flaws. A hero needs the
strength to help people like physical strength for busting a door down when a family is trapped
inside a burning building. Heroes need the bravery to risk getting injured a fire and possibly death.
The last thing is intelligence for the quick

A Brief Note On Companies And The Largest Ever Consumer...
Case Study #2: Maxxed Out: TJX Companies and the Largest Ever Consumer Data Breach

five modules provide a company a full analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities, and threats of their data
and how to mitigate them. This process identifies all the critical information the company or
organization have such a credit card information like TJX had on their main server. Identifying this
information is crucial so the business knows what valuable assets, or data is being stored. If a

Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which
costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks
could have been small.
There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network
wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2
provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced
Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a
hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have
two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with
terms and conditions.
For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect
with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers
and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an
alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports,
inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to
safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day.

1984 Commentary
The second half of 1984 was good but not what I imagined. Winston meets Julia, a girl that he
works with. He thinks she work for ВЁbig brotherВЁ but when they get to know each other they
both dislike big brother. They start to do illegal things and disobey big brother without telling
anyone. Another one of their co workers named O brien invites them over. He tells them that he is
against big brother and Winston and Julia tells him that they are too. Later that night the police
come and take Winston and Julia away, O brien lied to Winston and Julia and is actually part of
big brother. They get tortured until they become under full control of big brother. Once they are
under big brothers control they are put back into the world to do nothing. I thought the end would
be more exciting, I thought Winston and Julia would actually put up a fight against big brother. The
big word I chose for the second half of 1984 is innumerable. I believe that innumerable means thin

  • 2. The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke... The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke Poetry is made to express the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the poet. The reader can interpret the poem however they see fit. Critics are undecided about the theme of Theodore Roethke s My Papa s Waltz. Some people believe that the poem is one of a happy exchange between a father and son. The more convincing interpretation is that it has a hidden message of parental abuse. Careful analysis of the keywords and each individual stanza back up this theory of child abuse by a violent and drunken father. The word that is key to the poem is romp. Roethke states that we romped until the pans / slid from the kitchen shelf (5 6). The word is usually associated with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most people would not associate a joyous event and death. For instance, when someone is on a roller coaster, they hang on tight out of fear. The second stanza gives the details of how the father was knocking over pans and shelves. No fun event would require continuous destruction to the house. The reader also sees the mother in a seemingly helpless state as the father continues to damage the house. She seems to be in a state of dismay as her husband carries on his behavior. Her frown shows that his actions sadden her but she is powerless to stop him. One would think that a smile would be more appropriate. This supports the abuse aspect because she would not be frowning if it was a joyous exchange between the son and father. In the last two stanza s, Roethke describes the vivid details of the beating. He describes how one hand clinches the boy s wrist. Clinch seems to be a rather strong word and it indicates a use of forceful grabbing. If this were a happy dance, the author would not use such a strong description. Lines 11 12 shows how the father tries to hit the son but due to his intoxication he misses and grazes the son s ear with the belt buckle. The fourth and final stanza sums up the feelings of the boy towards the father. The words seem to be directly spoken to the dad. This is not the first time this type of action has taken place. The reader gets this interpretation because the boy says, you beat time on my head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Essay examples Acute lymphocytic leukemia is also called acute lymphoblastic leukemia or ALL. This disease is primarily when the white blood cell, WBC, making tissue releases too many undeveloped lymphocytes. The immature lymphocytes then collect in lymph tissues. The tissues swell which makes it harder for the bone marrow to produce other bloodcells. If the bone marrowcannot function properly the red blood cell, RBC, count decreases causing anemia. The bone marrow also cannot create the platelets needed to cause clots, therefore resulting in the body bleeding and bruising more easily. The lymphocytes can also invade other organs, impairing their ability to function properly. ALL accounts for twenty five percent of cancers affecting children under the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leukemic cells start in either B or T lymphocytes. Approximately 80% of cases start with immature B cells. One to two percent are mature B cells. Fifteen to twenty percent of all cases are derived from T cells. These cases are associated with cases that occur in older males and a need for a higher dosage of chemotherapy. In addition, the chromosomes play an important part in the diagnosis of the subtype of ALL. The TEL AML1 fusion gene can indicate an early B cell type of leukemia. This gene also indicates a favorable prognosis. The bcr abl t translocation gene is seen in three to five percent of all cases. Those diagnosed with ALL that have this gene will have a higher WBC count and a poorer prognosis. A rearrangement of the MLL gene accounts for 80% of infant ALL cases. The prognosis for this is poor despite the use of high intensity chemotherapeutics. There is only a twenty percent survival rate (Esparza, Sakamoto, 2005). Manifestation of the Disease When diagnosing ALL a complete patient history is taken. The client would present with weakness, pallor, and fatigue indicating anemia. The client would be feeling pain in the bones and below the ribs. The client would experience headache from increased cranial pressure (Cancer, 2010). The client would also be prone to secondary infection due to the decreased production of immature WBC. This would present with fever and sweating. The client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Research Study Of The Airius Air Pear With Phi Cell Units As a company, you have already done your research and began stepping in the proper direction for creating an overall sanitary and healthy atmosphere for your guests and employees. At the moment, I believe you have just under 7 of the Airius Air Pear with PHI cell units in your facility, that have been purchased over the past few months in multiple orders. With my study of these products, I ve come to realize the the great impact they can have on your environment. Typically, where I would love to find and highlight all of the negative things about the Airius products vs. ours, there is truly only one, which I will point out later. However, there are a few major points to consider when comparing our products to theirs. The Airius Air Pear with PHI cell (which is the unit(s) you have currently), are designed to equal out the temperature of the air in a room while emitting Ionized Hydro Peroxides to sanitize and disinfect all of the air and surfaces. These units have a cost to you of $2,000 each with a recommended 1500 2000 sq ft operating space and are FDA approved. The unit is also designed to last for 2yrs with a $300 parts replacement to renew and must be done by your staff. The unit will also need to be maintained by your staff throughout the years. The one negative aspect I mentioned before, is that while emitting these Ionized Hydro Peroxides, the unit also emits a small level of ozone (as quoted on their product description) which has been shown to be harmful ... • 6. Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church Getting to Heaven Some keep the Sabbath going to Church 236 In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church, the theme is that there is more than one way to get to Heaven(1, 1668). The persona suggests that this is true because they still have a relationship with God; they just worship differently than what is accepted by society. In the line that reads, And an Orchard, for a dome, Dickinson uses imagery to paint a picture for the reader(4, 1668). The image is an orchard of trees that provides her with a safe place for worship instead of the traditional church sanctuary. She is suggesting that nature, the things unspoiled by humankind, is whatone really needs for worship and gaining a relationship with God. The practices that many religions believe have to be performed are unnecessary because God is with you all the time and not just when you are in church. It is just as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first line of the last stanza she writes God preaches, a noted Clergyman (9, 1668). This is inferring that she gets her spiritual food directly from God; there is no need for a middle man. There is a practice used by a well known religion that a person needs to confess their sins to their priest in order to be forgiven of them and made new. This is another way that a middle man is used in religious practices. The Bible reads no one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Dickinson is going by the words of the Bible instead of the words of mankind. The final two lines of the poem read So instead of getting to Heaven, at last I m going, all along (11, 1668). The connotation of these words relay to the reader that along with all the church goers she, the one who exercises her own, individual beliefs and practices, will be right there with them going to Heaven. It s almost as if she is obnoxiously poking at the religious people of her time proving that you don t have to always do things a specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I have been fortunate to have very healthy and happy relationships in my life there is one past relationship I was a part of that was very toxic. It was with my ex boyfriend of two years. Although the relationship ended over a year ago I feel as if the material we have discussed in class has in a way, provided some final closure for me. There have been many times in class when I have thought Wow! Now, I can understand why that relationship wasn t successful. I can also admit that I have learned more about myself and the things I may have done that hindered the relationship. In order to analyze the past relationship, I will give some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even looking back on the relationship I still can confidently say we communicated very well in the early stages of the relationship. I felt comfortable communicating with him about small conflicts or any of my wants and needs and I truly believe he felt the same way. Our communication didn t seem to be an issue until after the first cheating incident. I think that this is because up until the cheating incident I had no reason to suspect he was not telling me things and I never felt a secretive or flighty vibe from him. After being cheated on I can admit that my communication skills with him started to change. Within one day everything had changed. I had not fallen out of love but instead of a sincere love it felt more like a constant sting to the heart whenever I thought of what he had done to me. I found myself bouncing back in forth between emotions of extreme hurt, anger, and self pity. Dr. Thompson talked to the class about the Four Horseman which are danger signals in a relationship. I realized that I could identify each of these danger signals within my past relationship. After being cheated on I think I subconsciously felt the need to make him feel the same pain that he had put me through. I used criticism as a way to make small jabs at him and tear him down. I knew I was able to get away with this because these small jabs paled in comparison to cheating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is heard in the beginning of Siddhartha, when he decides to leave his father s home, He had begun to suspect that his worthy father and his other teachers, the wise Brahmins, had already passed onto him the bulk and best of their wisdom, that they had already poured the sum total of their knowledge into his waiting vessel and the vessel was not full. (pp.5). Stipe repeats the same idea when he says, I have got to find the river, Bergamot and vetiver run through my head and fall away . Bergamot and Vetiver are common incense tools used in Hindu temples and religious rituals, and the speaker in Find the River , seems to say these tools run through his mind but are of no use, and that he must find the truth through finding his river . He repeats this encouragement in the last stanza , There is nothing left to throw of ginger, lemon, indigo, coriander stem and rose of hay. Strength and courage overrides the privileged and weary eyes . Again, the speaker is imagining tools of his religion and overcoming the weariness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Summary Of Thomas Paine The American Crisis Thomas Paine s The American Crisis was written as a sixteen pamphlet sequence during the Revolutionary War era. Through his writing, Paine expresses his feelings over Britain s control over the colonies. Essentially, his purpose is to rouse the colonists and soldiers to rise up to take further action against Britain s tyranny. Therefore, The American Crisis utilizes Paine s and God s credibility to convince readers to take action, appeals to their logic through analogies, and evokes emotional rage from the colonists against the British. Thomas Paine s own credibility and God s credibility are emphasized in Paine s essay in order to convince the readers to embrace his viewpoint on independence from Britain. Paine stated, I have as little superstition in me as any man living, but my secret opinion has ever been, and still is, that God Almighty will not give up a people to military destruction... Paine claims that if a thief breaks into [his] house, burns and destroys [his] property, and kills or threatens to kill [him], or those that are in it, and to bind [him] in all cases whatsoever, to his absolute will, is [he] to suffer it? Paine is clearly comparing Britain s king to a thief because the king is depriving the colonists of their liberty. This analogy and rhetorical question affirms, once again, that colonists need to stand up against British rule because like with a thief, the people would not stand by and let Britain s king commit a crime against them. Also, when Paine mentions that Britain would bind him in all cases whatsoever, he implies that under Britain s rule they would be like slaves. Just like slaves are bonded to their masters, the colonists would be ultimately chained to British rule. Thus, the notion of becoming like slaves would evoke rage among the colonists and ... He then begins making his way to the mountain when he sees 3 creatures, a lion, a leopard and a she wolf. He then meets the spirit of Virgil, who was a roman poet. Virgil guides Dante through the 9 rings of hell in order for Dante to reach Beatrice. They begin at Limbo, Where those who didn t identify as being Christians and those who were not baptized. There were two types of greed a person would have had, those who hoarded possessions, and those who carelessly spent them. The punishment was to have an unstoppably heavy weight suppressed onto one s chest to represent the drive a person had to keep or carelessly spend their riches/possessions. In this ring Dante saw men of the clergy, including popes and cardinals. I would closely relate greed to gluttony because the overconsumption of food is basically being greedy and not sharing with others, even though these two are closely related, I still stand by with rearranging lust and gluttony because I feel greed is much worse. With Christianity, for the most part, everyone would go out of their way to help one another. I feel this is mostly among the poorer people because they would appreciate one another s efforts and open to sharing and trading what they could muster. As for people such as some kings, popes, and higher classes, since they had their riches, and far more positions, sharing was not on their agenda, again I m not saying all higher class people did this. For those who carelessly spend their riches, they only think about themselves rather than helping out the poor. I can think of quite a few people now a day s that would definitely be ing this ring. Rumination Theory Rumination disorder can be attributed to the infant experiencing vomiting from an acute illness, and then having a disturbed mother infant relationship, in which the infant learns to regurgitate and re chew the food in order to self soothe and relieve tension (Sadock, Sadock, Ruiz, 2009, p. 3606). Rumination historically has been considered a self stimulatory behavior that arises in the context of longstanding social deprivation, and maternal behavior may appear to be neglectful or slavishly attentive (Benninga, M. A., Nurko, S., Faure, C., Hyman, P. E., Roberts, I. S. Schechter, N. L., 2016, p. 1446). Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners need to be aware that the development of rumination disorder may be due to a past gastrointestinal condition. Not only was this a traumatic time for the English it was also a wake up call to further fortified the camp and to be enclosed with palisades. According to George Percy James Fort was complete on June 15th in a triangular shape of about two acres with three bulwarks. This was not an easy task for these men. They had to dig a nine hundred foot trench, along with cutting down and hauling tree that could have easily have weight about eight hundred pounds all while having Native Americans shooting at them (Kelso 2006:16). The Confederate Flag, By Winston Churchill As Winston Churchill stated, The flags of the Confederate States of America were very important and a matter of great pride to those citizens living in the confederacy. They are also a matter of great pride for their descendants as part of their heritage and history, but in present day, the American people are claiming the meaning of the confederate flag is hate and discrimination. In South Carolina, the confederate flag was taken down and placed in a museum after a heated debate stemming from a mass shooting of nine black churchgoers in a historical Charleston church during bible study. The shooter, Dylann Roof, was a white supremacist. A photograph of Roof emerged showing him holding a confederate flag which fueled the political flag debate. The confederate flag is at the center of the controversy over racism. Although, it was first created as an official flag of confederacy, the confederate flag has changed into what is now either a symbol of Southern heritage and pride or slavery and racism by Americans. It is time to put this flag in a museum to be honored by those it means something to and no longer stand as a reminder of the division our country once suffered, so we can move on as a nation, united. • 27. Classroom Management In The Classroom Classroom management is one of the most essential elements of teaching. Classroom management refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class . Therefore, without good classroom management the classroom will not be an environment of learning, rather it will be an environment of chaos. My personal philosophy of educationpulls elements from three different models assertive discipline, CHAMPS, and capturing kids hearts. The main goal of the assertive discipline model is to put the teacher in charge of the classroom. However, teachers are also expected to treat students as their allies in the learning experience. Although there are elements of assertive discipline that I do not agree with, my idea of discipline in the classroom aligns best with this model. When using assertive discipline, the teacher decides on the class rules before school begins. The teacher also has a system of both positive and negative consequences in place. Additionally, consequences occur in a hierarchy system, known as the discipline hierarchy. The discipline hierarchy is a system of between 3 6 different consequences that become harsher as a student continues to misbehave. For a first offense, the student is simply given a warning. If the student continues to misbehave than the second and third time they are taken out of an activity. The fourth time the parents are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With early identification, automatic orders for preventive interventions can be implemented quickly. With the assistance of the automated consults and orders, the appropriate equipment, the interdisciplinary task force, continuing education, and monitoring, the hospital system would be able to reduce unnecessary use of restraints and hospital acquired pressure ulcer prevalence rate (Cherry amp; Jacob, 2010). More recently the film has become known as one of the greatest movies of all time, it has inspired hope in many people, helping them to lose weight, leave abusive marriages and such like. The film is based mainly upon two convicts, and the idea of hope. Andy Dufresne is a Hot Shot Banker imprisoned with two life sentences, for the suspected murder of his wife and her lover and Red (Morgan Freeman) whom Andy redeems hope in, along with the other convicts, saving them from institutionalisation. Red is very reluctant to accept hope, even stating in the film Hope is a dangerous thing; hope can drive a man insane and this is expressed through shadows cast on him whilst Andy is shown in the light. This idea of hopelessness exaggerates the redemption of hope expressed later on in the film, an example of this is right at the very start of the film when the man is beaten so badly by the prison guards that he dies, Andy s asks a key question that nobody can answer; What was his name? . This hopelessness is then contrasted when the friendships are formed later on in the film, when everybody becomes close, which is confirmed when Andy bargains with the guards and consequently wins three bottles of beer for each of his work mates. Andy s friends and he are regularly shown laughing together or helping one another to cope, Darabont successfully reflects hope into the eyes of the viewer through these friendships. Gestures such as the harmonica illuminate this point when Red begins to create music. Music is constantly used in the film as an icon of hope; it is used throughout the whole film in various different ways, to express and exaggerate different emotions that the characters are feeling. We are able to track the change of emotions and the feelings towards the idea of hope that the convicts in Shawshank have, making the build up of hope increasingly noticeable to the viewer. What Nature rent asunder long ago, man has joined today. This is a quote from Joseph Strauss, the engineer that designed the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is truly a piece of engineering excellence. It stretches for almost 9,000 feet over the San Francisco Bay, in San Francisco, California. The bridge has faced many problems during the designing process, construction, and even to this day it produces controversy. To continue, it was January 5th, 1933, when construction officially started on the bridge. The two anchorages of the bridge were the first parts to be built. The first of the two to be built was on the San Francisco side of the bay. The other on the Marin side of the bay. The San Francisco tower access trestle was then started. It extended for more than 1,000 feet off shore. Unfortunately, a major setback was met on August 14, 1943. On this date, a steamship crashed into the access trestle, and damaged almost 400 feet. Also this image of DiMaggio reminds him he must be very strategical, and do everything right, despite any cramps in his hand. There is hard evidence that shows that DiMaggio symbolizes the old man. Previously Joe DiMaggio had been struggling in his profession of baseball, due to a bone spur in his heel. The whole team struggled because DiMaggio was the main hope to the Yankee s team. Now in the case of the old man, who had previously struggled to catch a fish because of his newly developed unluckiness, struggles in his life because he has not caught a fish and in turn, has no money to buy the necessities for life. Well as soon as DiMaggio picked up his game and started to play at a whole new level, the old man hooked into a great big marlin, and started a fight that would change his life. Babbage had heard of God through Scriptures and Bible Stories he was told as a child, and he made up his mind to trust in the Lord as the Creator and Ruler of all things. The Analytical Society as a whole also agreed on this, and the men in the group, including Babbage, devoted their careers to proving the existence of God as well as to Scientific Achievement ( Charles Babbage 4). Now, during the early stages of the Industrial Revolution the idea of atheistic science began to rise, as did the careers of scientists like Charles Darwin. The side opposing this atheistic perspective was known as Natural Theology. Babbage was a strong supporter of this supporter and its belief that the design of nature required a Designer, and that this Designer was God. He was a part of a project later in his life known as the Bridgewater Treatises that was a collection of writings attempting to advance the popularity of Natural Theology. In these papers, it is obvious that Babbage s ultimate goal was to connect the world of mathematics and science to Scripture ( Babbage 2). Babbage did this by using his mathematical expertise to prove certain aspects of Scripture and to argue against atheist scientists, mainly David Hume ( Babbage 3). As his career progressed, Babbage began to conform to the atheistic ideas of science at the time; however, he seemed to return to his roots as, at age seventy three, he stated, [...] the belief in the existence of one Supreme Creator, possessed of infinite wisdom and power, is open to far fewer difficulties than the supposition of the absence of any cause, or of the existence of a plurality of causes ( Babbage 4). Here, Babbage looks at theology from a logical point of view, pointing out how the belief in one Creator is simply more logical than believing in many different causes of creation. Babbage ... The electrical hardware housing structure for our prototype measured in at 7.375 x 6.375 x 5.000 , which allowed for a small yet fully functional device. These relatively small dimensions allowed us to easily transport our prototype without concern of having to make accommodations for its size. Our prototype was composed of simple PVC plastic sheets. We cut these sheets to the desired dimensions and attached them using bent aluminum sheet metal. We used 6 32 threaded nuts and bolts to fasten the metal angle brackets to the PVC sheets. This combination of materials and fasteners used to create the housing structure for our electrical components made for a strong, yet lightweight prototype. This strength allowed for our structure to be free standing and added a component of durability without adding to the size or weight significantly. Also, this housing structure contained all of our wires and components meaning that there were no extraneous pieces protruding from the structure. This uniform structure kept components from getting snagged by outside materials during transport. By producing the prototype from these materials at the given dimensions, we were able to create a prototype structure that displayed durability, strength, and functionality while remaining quite portable. Using a pre requisite module like business strategy for competitive advantage, it can be assumed that Molex are using theoretical concepts from porters generic strategies like focused low cost and differentiation in order to gain an advantage over their competitors as previously mentioned in the case study. (Sowell, 2006) further illustrates this point stating firms like Molex will drive their cost lower through investments in plant efficiencies . Linking this back to (Hill, 2009) where it goes on to say that manufacturing sites are located in countries where cost conditions are favorable . We can therefore see that these countries, which are cost favorable, were not chosen at random, but instead selected using a focused low cost strategy. This informs companies like Molex to invest their resources in plant efficiencies, further suggesting that these plant efficiencies means an area where capacity utilization can be met but keeping both fixed and variable costs low. • 52. A Brief Note On Companies And The Largest Ever Consumer... Case Study #2: Maxxed Out: TJX Companies and the Largest Ever Consumer Data Breach There are five components to the operations security process that companies use to analyze. These five modules provide a company a full analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities, and threats of their data and how to mitigate them. This process identifies all the critical information the company or organization have such a credit card information like TJX had on their main server. Identifying this information is crucial so the business knows what valuable assets, or data is being stored. If a company does not recognize this material, the material is unprotected. Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks could have been small. There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2 provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with terms and conditions. For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports, inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. 1984 Commentary The second half of 1984 was good but not what I imagined. Winston meets Julia, a girl that he works with. He thinks she work for ВЁbig brotherВЁ but when they get to know each other they both dislike big brother. They start to do illegal things and disobey big brother without telling anyone. Another one of their co workers named O brien invites them over. He tells them that he is against big brother and Winston and Julia tells him that they are too. Later that night the police come and take Winston and Julia away, O brien lied to Winston and Julia and is actually part of big brother. They get tortured until they become under full control of big brother. Once they are under big brothers control they are put back into the world to do nothing. I thought the end would be more exciting, I thought Winston and Julia would actually put up a fight against big brother. The big word I chose for the second half of 1984 is innumerable. I believe that innumerable means thin or weak. The context clues that led me to believe that are ВЁThey were standing in the shade of hazel bushes. The sunlight, filtering through the innumerable leaves, was still hot on their faces.ВЁ When it says the sunlight is filtering through the innumerable leaves, that makes me believe the leaves are so thin that...
