3. Greetings
4. Checking of Attendance
5. Checking of Assignment
May I request everyone to stand up for our
prayer?
Please remain standing for our energizer.
Good morning my beautiful and handsome
science learners!
It’s nice to see you too. Before you take your seats,
kindly arrange your chair properly and pick-up
some pieces of paper under your chair.
Okay, I see everything is clean. You may now take
your seat.
Turn your phone into silent mode to avoid any
interruption and keep your phone inside your bag.
Who among you are absent today?
Okay very good you are all present.
Do we have an assignment?
Pass your assign in front.
(The students stand up and pray)
(The students do the energizer)
Good morning ma’am, it’s nice to see you today!
(The students arrange the chair and pick-up some
pieces of paper)
Thank you Ma’am.
Yes, Ma’am. (The students silent their phone and keep
it on their bag)

B. Reviewing Previous Lesson
or presenting the new lesson
(Elicit)
Now, let’s review our previous lesson.
Who among you remember our lesson last
meeting? Anyone from the back ________.
What a memory!
Our previous lesson was all about the Non-Mendelian
inheritance.
3. (3 minutes)
Now, what is Non-Mendelian?
What are the three types of Non-Mendelian
inheritance?
Awesome. I am grateful that you understand our
previous lesson.
Non-Mendelian refers to the inheritance of traits that
have a more complex genetic basis than one gene with
two alleles and complete dominance.
Incomplete dominance, codominance, multiple alleles.
C. Establishing a purpose for
the lesson/ Presenting
examples/instances for the
new lesson
(Engage)
(5 minutes)
Now let’s have an activity entitled “WHO AM I?”
What you are going to do is to guess the picture by
arranging the jumbled letters. Your class will
choose one representative to do the activity and
give a brief idea with regards to it.
V O I R I T Y I D B S
You’ve got the correct answer. Anybody can share
his/her idea about biodiversity?
ANSWER: BIODIVERSITY
D. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills #1
and 2
(Explore)
1. Establishing the purpose of the lesson
Before we start with our new lesson, here are the
objectives that are expected from you to achieve at
the end of the discussion.
4. (15 minutes) Please read altogether.
Through inquiry based approach, the students
should be able to…
1. Identify the levels of Biodiversity.
2. Differentiate the three levels of Biodiversity
3. Recognize the importance of biodiversity in
our daily life.
a. Pre-Activity
To deepen your understanding about
our lesson this morning, let’s have another
activity. This activity will give you first-
hand understanding about the lesson that
we will be tackling this morning.
b. Setting of Standard
But before we begin our activity, What
are the standards we should follow
while doing our activity? (Student Possible answers)
B - Be respectful to all living beings
I - Investigate and explore the natural world
O - Observe and appreciate the diversity of
species
D - Do your part to protect the environment
I - Interact with nature responsibly
V - Value and conserve biodiversity
E - Educate yourself and others about the
importance of biodiversity
R - Respect the habitats and ecosystems around
you
S - Support conservation efforts
5. c. Groupings
Okay class; now let’s have an activity
entitled “WHAT AM I?” I will group you
into 2 groups.

Now let’s check your
activity.
What does the first
picture show?
How about the second picture?
Species diversity.
Genetic diversity Ma’am.
8. How about the third picture?
Based on the picture,
what is species diversity?
How about Genetic diversity?
How about Ecosystem diversity?
Ecosystem diversity Ma’am.
Species diversity is the number of different species
present in an ecosystem and relative abundance of each
of those species. To make a more efficient, productive
and sustainable ecosystem, it is important to maintain
high species diversity.
Genetic diversity is the range of the different inherited
traits within a species. This component of biodiversity
is important because it allows populations to adapt to
environmental changes through the survival and
reproduction of individuals within a population that
have particular genetic characteristics that enable them
to withstand these changes.
Ecosystem biodiversity can be defined as the variety of
different habitats, communities and ecological
processes. It boosts the availability of oxygen through
photosynthesis among plant organisms living in a
certain habitat.
F. Finding practical 1. Discussion of the concept.
9. applications of concepts and
skills in daily living/ Making
generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
(Elaborate)
(15 minutes)
Have you enjoyed the activity?
Now let’s discuss the Biodiversity.
What is Biodiversity?

Terrific! What are the three level of Biodiversity?
Precisely! What is Species diversity? Anyone?
Very good! What does species richness mean?
Awesome! What does Evenness of species
abundance mean?
Very good! Now give me an example of Species
diversity.
Exactly! How about the Genetic diversity?

Diversity Ma’am.
Species diversity Ma’am refers to the species richness
and evenness of the species abundance Ma’am.
It tells the number of species Ma’am in an ecosystem, if
a community has more species, it is said to be more

It refers Ma’am to the number of individuals of a
particular species in a community, if the abundance of
species is even, it is more diverse.
Humans, animals, insects, plants and soon so forth.
10. Awesome! Can you give me an example of Genetic
diversity? Anyone?
Very good! How can you say that the dog has
different breeds?
Very good! Now, what is the Ecosystem diversity?
What are the examples of Ecosystem diversity?
Did you understand what biodiversity is?
How about the three levels of biodiversity?
Are there any questions? Clarifications?
2. APPLICATION
Now let’s have an activity. I will group in this class
into 3 groups. I will give you an envelope
containing the materials that you need. What you
are going to do is to make a Slogan about the

representative. I will give you 12 minutes to do
your activity and 3 minutes for the presentation.
Did you understand?
Here’s our rubric for the presentation.
