2. PROBLEM & RATIONALE
Do not eat enough vegetables
I like them; I just don’t eat them often
Raw or cooked
Eat them when available
The problem is the availability of vegetables
Despise grocery shopping
Only store within walking distance is Wal-Mart
Share a car
3. SOLUTION
To increase the availability of vegetables
I already eat them
The point is to keep them in the house
I have a tendency to check the refrigerator/cabinets
regularly (whether I actually want anything to eat or
not
Solution: Keep vegetables in the house and keep
them in sight within the refrigerator
When I cannot see vegetables I have to spend 10
minutes weeding my yard
4. RESULTS
Table 1: Intervention Data
Baseline Intervention Follow-Up
# times checking 52 58 53
# vegetables eaten 3 8 5
# trips to the store 1 2 0
# times weeding 0 3 0
5. CONCLUSION
This intervention needs longer to become
established
Within one week, may not run out of vegetables (only
happened once)
During follow-up I still ate more vegetables, but I
was not going back to the store to get more
After the first time running out of vegetables, I just
slowed my consumption
Still more than I had previously
Always left some
