This document discusses introducing minor carp and barb species to diversify pond aquaculture and increase productivity. It recommends stocking Labeo fimbriatus, L. gonius, L. calbasu, Puntius gonionotus, and P. sarana in addition to common carps. These species are fast growing and suitable as replacements for rohu, mrigal, and catla. Intercropping calculations for 0.5 acres show higher production and financial gains compared to monoculture.
