Quite a number of studies in the past in various countries accentuated the significance of demographic variables in lending decisions of bank-officials. Do the dimensions of commercial bank lending diverge by gender, age-group, banking experience, sector of the bank, and designation held by bank-officials in Ethiopia? This is the key issue that is tried to be answered by empirical testing in this study. For the purpose of this descriptive study of cross-sectional design, data were collected by means of a pilot-tested questionnaire from bank-officials across the country between February and July 2015.

Determinants of Coffee Farmers Cooperatives’ Demand for Institutional Credit:...Premier Publishers
This study explored determinants of coffee farmer cooperatives’ demand for institutional credit under the Ethiopian context. The data was collected from 100 farmers primary cooperatives and analysed using descriptive statistics and Heckman two-step selection econometric model. The study reveals that the vast majority of the study cooperatives have potential demand for credit, while the revealed demand was found to be relatively low. Different sets of variables were found to influence cooperatives’ potential and actual demand for institutional credit in different ways. In order to address constraints preventing farmer cooperatives from effectively demanding and accessing institutional credit, recommendations are made in relation to the borrower cooperatives, lending banks and government policy.

This study investigated loans default (problems loans) and returns on assets in Nigeria banks, employing the data of five banks for a period of five years (2010-2014), using the ordinary least squares (OLS) regression techniques to check the relationship between problem loans and returns on assets (ROA). The findings shows that a positive and significant relationship at 5% level of significance exist between problem loans and returns on assets, and a negative and significant relationship at 10% level of significance exists between loans and advances and returns on assets in Nigerian banks. A major suggestion is that banks in Nigeria should enhance their capacity in credit analysis and loan administration, while the regulatory authority should pay more attention to banks’ compliance to relevant provisions of Bank and other Financial Institutions Act (1991) and prudential guidelines.
Financial incentives and loan officer behavior: multitasking and allocation o...FGV Brazil
We investigate the implications of providing loan officers with a compensation structure that rewards loan volume and penalizes poor performance. Using a unique data set provided by a large international commercial bank, we examine the three main activities that loan officers perform: monitoring, origination, and screening. We find that when loan officers are at risk of losing their bonus, they increase monitoring and origination, but not screening effort. On the other hand, having lost a bonus in the previous period does not entail higher effort. We document unintended consequences of the incentive contract showing the incompleteness of such contracts.

This paper examines the role of loan characteristics in mortgage default probability for different mortgage lenders in the UK. The accuracy of default prediction is tested with two statistical methods, a probit model and linear discriminant analysis, using a unique dataset of defaulted commercial loan portfolios provided by sixty-six financial institutions. Both models establish that the attributes of the underlying real estate asset and the lender are significant factors in determining default probability for commercial mortgages. In addition to traditional risk factors such as loan-to-value and debt servicing coverage ratio lenders and regulators should consider loan characteristics to assess more accurately probabilities of default.
Effect of Auditor Independence on Audit Quality: A Review of Literatureinventionjournals
Auditor independence and audit quality are two concepts that work inseparably. Many have argued that auditor independence begets audit quality and as such audit quality cannot be different from the system that produces it. This paper reviews literature related to auditor independence and audit quality in order to determine the effect of the former on the latter. The ex post facto research design is employed. Information for this study was obtained from secondary sources to include journals, text books and other internet materials. Based on the review, findings show that there is a strong relationship between auditor independence and audit quality. The review also revealed four threats to auditor independence, which are client importance, non-audit services (NAS), audit tenure, and client’s affiliation with CPA firms. However, some studies indicated a positive relationship while others showed contrary due to the type of study design employed, sample size, data collection instruments and analysis techniques used. Most of the studies on auditor independence and audit quality were centered on one or two of the threats and majorly done outside Nigeria. Even the ones done in Nigeria were focused on the banking sector. This review therefore, recommends that more investigations should be conducted in Nigeria taking into consideration the four major threats revealed and extend to other sectors like manufacturing, transport, media, education etc.

The impact of Non-performing Loans and Bank Performance in Nigeriainventionjournals
This study investigated the relationship between non-performing loans and bank performance in Nigeria for the period 1994-2014. The study employed ADF Unit Root test, descriptive statistics, and multiple regression techniques to analyze data collected for the study from the CBN, NDIC and annual reports of listed banks. The results of the study show that BAL and DOL had statistically negative significant influence on ROCE, while SUL had statistically negative insignificant impact on ROCE. These results show that high level of non-performing loans would reduce the performance of banks in the long run in Nigeria. The study therefore recommended that credit reporting agencies and supervising authorities should be strengthen in order to reduce the high level of non-performing loans in the banking sector of Nigeria.
The aim of this paper is to examine the impact of bank minimum capital requirement on credit supply in Ivory Coast, over the period from 1982 to 2016. To this end, the ARDL method was used to study the nature of the relationship between our explanatory variables and bank credit supply in Ivory Coast. The study indicates some major results. The results showed that in the short term, real GDP per capita and bank size influence credit supply in Ivory Coast. Real GDP per capita acts negatively on credit supply in the short run while bank size has a positive influence on banks’ capacity to finance the economy. In the long run, the Cooke ratio and the openness rate have an impact on bank credit supply in Ivory Coast. The recovery of bank minimum capital requirements positively influences bank credit supply while the openness of the economy negatively impacts banks’ ability to offer bank credit. In terms of economic policies implications, monetary authorities must enforce and respect the policy of increasing bank minimum capital requirements. They must encourage banks to increase their banking assets.

The literature shows little evidence on the effects of the business model upon the volatility of banks in developing and fast growing economies. Hence, this study examines the effects of busi-ness model choice on bank’s stability in ASEAN countries. Using GMM and other robust econo-metric methods on the sample of 99 joint stock commercial banks, we find significant and nega-tive impacts of diversification model in which bank shifts toward non – interest and fee – based activities. We also find that the impacts are different between two groups of countries. For Vi-etnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, the diversification entails negative impacts on the stability while demonstrating positive impacts for Thailand and Malaysia. Upon the findings, we draw policy implications for a more sustainable development in ASEAN banking business.

Workforce diversity covers a wide range of areas including gender, age, ethnicity, and race. Many researchers have come up with studies that focus on various types of diversity in the workplace and their effects. Below is an annotated bibliography of past researches that were conducted on various elements of diversity in the financial service sector. Three of the articles talk about gender diversity in the banking sector, while one talks about how to improve workforce diversity in banks. The remaining article talks about the effects of workforce diversity on employee performance.

This article shows the effects of board diversity, gender, and nationality, on the performance of the bank. This study focused on the board because they play a vital role in steering the performance of the bank. This research was built on two hypotheses; that gender diversity does not affect the performance of the bank and that the board nationality diversity does not affect the performance of the bank. To test this, 159 banks from nine different countries were put under observation between 2004 and 2010. Out of this research, 877 observations were recorded. Throughout this period, the characteristics of the board members were noted from the Spencer & Stuart Board Index databases. On the other hand, data and information used to measure performance were derived from the Compustat database.
The results of this study suggested that the type of diversity may have different effects on the bank’s performance. Specifically, it suggested that nationality diversity in the board had negative effects on the bank's performance, while on the other hand gender diversity proved to have positive effects on the work performed. This research study is very useful to financial institutions especially when it comes to the appointment of board members while ensuring diversity.

The purpose of this study is to measure the impact of penetration of foreign banks in the Indonesian banking industry. The measured effects are limited to competition and efficiency during the years 2000-2011, during which was a recovery from the economic crisis in Indonesia. Panzar-Rosse measures the competition and Conjectural Variation approaches. The efficiency is measured by the Standard Profit Efficiency approach. By using panel regression method with SUR (Seemingly Unrelated Regression), we found that penetration of foreign banks will increase competition and efficiency of banking in Indonesia, especially to medium and small banks through spillover effect on domestic banking system. The increase in total assets, total loans and the amount of third party funds held by foreign banks in Indonesia will increase competition and efficiency of banks in Indonesia.

BROAD UNEXPOSED SKILLS OF TRANSGENDER ENTREPRENEURSIAEME Publication
Since ages gender difference is always a debatable theme whether caused by nature, evolution or environment. The birth of a transgender is dreadful not only for the child but also for their parents. The pain of living in the wrong physique and treated as second class victimized citizen is outrageous and fully harboured with vicious baseless negative scruples. For so long, social exclusion had perpetuated inequality and deprivation experiencing ingrained malign stigma and besieged victims of crime or violence across their life spans. They are pushed into the murky way of life with a source of eternal disgust, bereft sexual potency and perennial fear. Although they are highly visible but very little is known about them. The common public needs to comprehend the ravaged arrogance on these insensitive souls and assist in integrating them into the mainstream by offering equal opportunity, treat with humanity and respect their dignity. Entrepreneurship in the current age is endorsing the gender fairness movement. Unstable careers and economic inadequacy had inclined one of the gender variant people called Transgender to become entrepreneurs. These tiny budding entrepreneurs resulted in economic transition by means of employment, free from the clutches of stereotype jobs, raised standard of living and handful of financial empowerment. Besides all these inhibitions, they were able to witness a platform for skill set development that ignited them to enter into entrepreneurial domain. This paper epitomizes skill sets involved in trans-entrepreneurs of Thoothukudi Municipal Corporation of Tamil Nadu State and is a groundbreaking determination to sightsee various skills incorporated and the impact on entrepreneurship.

Living in 21st century in itself reminds all of us the necessity of police and its administration. As more and more we are entering into the modern society and culture, the more we require the services of the so called ‘Khaki Worthy’ men i.e., the police personnel. Whether we talk of Indian police or the other nation’s police, they all have the same recognition as they have in India. But as already mentioned, their services and requirements are different after the like 26th November, 2008 incidents, where they without saving their own lives has sacrificed themselves without any hitch and without caring about their respective family members and wards. In other words, they are like our heroes and mentors who can guide us from the darkness of fear, militancy, corruption and other dark sides of life and so on. Now the question arises, if Gandhi would have been alive today, what would have been his reaction/opinion to the police and its functioning? Would he have some thing different in his mind now what he had been in his mind before the partition or would he be going to start some Satyagraha in the form of some improvement in the functioning of the police administration? Really these questions or rather night mares can come to any one’s mind, when there is too much confusion is prevailing in our minds, when there is too much corruption in the society and when the polices working is also in the questioning because of one or the other case throughout the India. It is matter of great concern that we have to thing over our administration and our practical approach because the police personals are also like us, they are part and parcel of our society and among one of us, so why we all are pin pointing towards them.

ATTRITION IN THE IT INDUSTRY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: LINKING EMOTIONAL INTE...IAEME Publication
Globally, Millions of dollars were spent by the organizations for employing skilled Information Technology (IT) professionals. It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. The organization’s employment tactics were forced to alter by globalization along with technological innovations as they consistently diminish to remain lean, outsource to concentrate on core competencies along with restructuring/reallocate personnel to gather efficiency. As other jobs, organizations or professions have become reasonably more appropriate in a shifting employment landscape, the above alterations trigger both involuntary as well as voluntary turnover. The employee view on jobs is also afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic along with the employee-driven labour market. So, having effective strategies is necessary to tackle the withdrawal rate of employees. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. The majority of the population in India lives in villages. The village is the back bone of the country. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Developing the rural economy is one of the key indicators towards a country’s success. Whether it be the need to look after the welfare of the farmers or invest in rural infrastructure, Governments have to ensure that rural development isn’t compromised. The economic development of our country largely depends on the progress of rural areas and the standard of living of rural masses. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India.
