ABSTRACT
We proposes an advanced Public Distribution
System, named as “GSM Based Fully Automatic Distribution
System Monitoring and Controlling”. Huge amount of Govt.
money get wasted due to corruption in the conventional
Ration Distribution System. Our concept implements RFID
tag used as an Smart card in place of a conventional ration
card. The Subscriber has to use this card instead of a
traditional ration card to get ration from the dealer. Efforts
are put together from our side to combat corruption and to
have better management of public distribution system.
INTRODUCTION
Now a day Aadhar Card is attached to the Ration
Card, is very important for every home and used for various
field such as family members details, to get gas connection, it
act as address proof for various purposes etc. All the people
having a ration card to buy the various materials. This project
well suited for the Government distribution as well as private
sectors who are dealing with distributing materials in terms
of Shops. Soon we receive the combination of Aadhar card and
Ration card into a single card called Smart Card.

EXISTING SYSTEM
 Weight of the material may be inaccurate due to human
mistakes.
 If the user not buy the materials at the end of month, they
will sale to others without any intimation to the
government and customers
 Cannot able to get the material at any time and over crowd.
 Fair Price Shop(FPS) dealer may declare “No Stock” even
when sufficient stock is available.
 Poor quality of supplies.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
 In this system provides the materials automatically
without help of humans.
 All the manual works from data entry to product
distribution completely automated.
 User get smart card(RFID tag) from government.
 To get the materials in ration shops need to give your RFID
card as Smart Card and enter unique PASSWORD given by
the government.
 Purchased product amount will be paid by the help of
Online Banking System.

PROGRESS OF WORK
 To get the materials first need to show the RFID tag into the
RFID reader.
 Then enter the unique password given by the government
at time of registration.
 If the user login is successful then the controller check the
customer details from the database and display it.
 Then the user select the required material by using Mouse.
 If the user select the rice or sugar controller pass the
commands to the Servo motor.
 If the user select the Kerosene then the controller send the
commands to the Liquid pump.
 After purchasing user press the Payment option to pay the
amount corresponding to the materials purchased through
online Banking.
CONTD..
 User Banking details are already stored once in the database
itself. PC always connected within the INTERNET so that
user’s corresponding Bank will be open automatically.
 After the payment completion, materials should be
automatically distributed.
 The IR sensor is one type of object detection sensor.
 It is used to detect whether the object is placed for getting a
material or not.
 The corresponding material details with payment send to
the user Mobile no attached to the card at the time of
registration via GSM technology.

PIC MICROCONTROLLER
 Operating speed: DC - 20 MHz clock input DC - 200 ns
instruction cycle.
 It take 2.0V to 5.5V as Input.
 Controller here used to handle the all the components
attached to it.
 PC send the desired commands to the controller, it will
drive the control circuit to control the motor and pump.
RFID READER
 A significant advantage of RFID devices than the others
devices, RFID device does not require to positioned
precisely relative to the scanner.
 In this project, RFID is small electronic device that consist
of a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is
capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less. Store the
customer details in it.
 The RFID devices will work within a few feet (up to 20 feet
for high-frequency devices) of the scanner. The RFID tag
used to read information about the customer through RFID
Reader.
INFRARED SENSOR
 An infrared sensor is an electronic device, that emits in order
to sense some aspects of the surroundings.
 It is used to detect whether the user place the corresponding
object to get the material or not.
 If not means, it will send the signal to controller, material will
not be distributed.
 Here Thermal Sensor is used, its sensitivity
independent of the wavelength being detected,
it use infrared energy as heat.
RELAY CIRCUIT
When a current flows through the coil, the resulting
magnetic field attracts an armature that is mechanically
linked to a moving contact.
It is used to control the two types of setup i.e. Servo Motor
and Liquid Pump.
A pulse is generated to control the motor once every 20
milliseconds, or at about 50 Hz.
Servos take commands from a series of pulses sent from
the computer or Controller. A pulse is a transition from low
voltage to high voltage which stays high for a short time, and
then returns to low.
SERVO MOTOR
 It is a kind of motor having servo drive circuit to control
the turn position.
 It is used to distribute the solid materials i.e. Rice, Sugar,
Wheat, etc.
 Input voltage as 4.8 – 6V.
 These motors run on electricity from a battery and spin
at high RPM (rotations per minute).
 Deliver the product based on predefined time delay
period properly.
LIQUID PUMP
 A submersible pump (or sub pump, electric submersible
pump (ESP)) is a device, which has a hermetically sealed
motor close-coupled to the pump body.
 The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be
pumped.
 The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents
pump cavitations .
LCD
 16 Characters x 2 Lines
 Works with almost any Microcontroller
 In this project, it is used to display the commands passed
by the PC to PIC controller
 Initially it will display the text as “ Ration Shop”.
 After selecting the Rice or Sugar it will display “Solid” & for
selecting Kerosene it will display “Liquid” commands passed
by the PIC microcontroller.
GSM MODEM
GSM (Global System for Mobile communications: originally
from Group Special Mobile) is the most popular standard for
mobile phones in the world.
A GSM modem is a specialized type of modem which accepts a
SIM card, and operates over a subscription to a mobile operator,
just like a mobile phone.
It is used to send information about the product purchased
and amount taken from account to the Phone number of the
user registered in Smart Card.
It will send the information only after the successful
completion of product distribution.

 It is an IDE(Integrated Development Environment) used to
create programs and applications for Windows and many
other platforms.
 It supports some built-in programming languages like
C,C++,C# .
 It included editor and debugger.
 It include other built-in tools like,
* A form designer, which is useful when building GUI
applications.
* A Web designer that creates dynamic Web pages.
* A class designer that is used to create custom Libraries.
* A schema designer for database support.

MPLAB IDE
 MPLAB IDE software is a freeware Integrated Development
Environment (IDE) which is used in Microprocessor and
Micro-controller lab for the development of Embedded
applications.
 MPLAB supports project management, code editing,
debugging and programming of Microchip 8-bit and 32- bit
PIC Micro-controller.
 High speed software simulator for PIC and dsPIC (Digital
Signal Processing PIC(Microcontroller) devices with
peripheral simulation and register logging.

PICkit 3
 PICkit 3 allows debugging and programming of PIC.
 The PICkit 3 programmer/debugger is a simple, low-cost
in-circuit debugger that is controlled by a PC running
MPLAB IDE (v8.20 or greater) software on a Windows
platform.
 The debugger system executes code like an actual device
because it uses a device with built-in emulation circuitry,
instead of a special debugger chip.

IMPLEMENTATION
BENEFITS
 Effectively distributing rations for peoples.
 Reduced man power and man hour.
 Better fault detection and better supply quality.
 Time saving approach.
LIMITATIONS & APPLICATIONS
Limitations:
 For demo purpose we are using less accuracy component
in real time we can use better.
 Initial cost is high.
 Manual job is needed at the initial time of filling materials,
it cannot be avoided.
Applications:
 Used in commercial buildings.
 Used in more traffic areas
FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
 For better authentication of subscribers, a biometric
system can be used.
 The provision can be made such as PDA device will update
data directly to server online.
 For better understanding, an interface and website can be
made available in different languages(regional languages).
CONCLUSION
Using this proposed modern system we can have
Better management of the ration distribution system. The
commission agent is only responsible for entering the
quantity of the commodities, where as updating and
deducting is solely handled by the server(food
department). Govt. can have indirect check on the
availability of the ration to the beneficiary. It is transparent
and has control over prices of some commodities in the
open market. Dealer will not be able to keep fake ration
cards with them.

  • 2. ABSTRACT We proposes an advanced Public Distribution System, named as “GSM Based Fully Automatic Distribution System Monitoring and Controlling”. Huge amount of Govt. money get wasted due to corruption in the conventional Ration Distribution System. Our concept implements RFID tag used as an Smart card in place of a conventional ration card. The Subscriber has to use this card instead of a traditional ration card to get ration from the dealer. Efforts are put together from our side to combat corruption and to have better management of public distribution system.

INTRODUCTION Now a day Aadhar Card is attached to the Ration Card, is very important for every home and used for various field such as family members details, to get gas connection, it act as address proof for various purposes etc. All the people having a ration card to buy the various materials. This project well suited for the Government distribution as well as private sectors who are dealing with distributing materials in terms of Shops. Soon we receive the combination of Aadhar card and Ration card into a single card called Smart Card.

EXISTING SYSTEM  Weight of the material may be inaccurate due to human mistakes.  If the user not buy the materials at the end of month, they will sale to others without any intimation to the government and customers  Cannot able to get the material at any time and over crowd.  Fair Price Shop(FPS) dealer may declare “No Stock” even when sufficient stock is available.  Poor quality of supplies.
  • 6. PROPOSED SYSTEM  In this system provides the materials automatically without help of humans.  All the manual works from data entry to product distribution completely automated.  User get smart card(RFID tag) from government.  To get the materials in ration shops need to give your RFID card as Smart Card and enter unique PASSWORD given by the government.  Purchased product amount will be paid by the help of Online Banking System.

PROGRESS OF WORK  To get the materials first need to show the RFID tag into the RFID reader.  Then enter the unique password given by the government at time of registration.  If the user login is successful then the controller check the customer details from the database and display it.  Then the user select the required material by using Mouse.  If the user select the rice or sugar controller pass the commands to the Servo motor.  If the user select the Kerosene then the controller send the commands to the Liquid pump.  After purchasing user press the Payment option to pay the amount corresponding to the materials purchased through online Banking.
  • 9. CONTD..  User Banking details are already stored once in the database itself. PC always connected within the INTERNET so that user’s corresponding Bank will be open automatically.  After the payment completion, materials should be automatically distributed.  The IR sensor is one type of object detection sensor.  It is used to detect whether the object is placed for getting a material or not.  The corresponding material details with payment send to the user Mobile no attached to the card at the time of registration via GSM technology.
  • 10. HARDWARE & SOFTWARE REQUIEMENT Hardware:  Pic16F877a  RFID Reader  GSM  IR Sensor  Control Circuit  Servo Motor  Liquid Pump  LCD

PIC MICROCONTROLLER  Operating speed: DC - 20 MHz clock input DC - 200 ns instruction cycle.  It take 2.0V to 5.5V as Input.  Controller here used to handle the all the components attached to it.  PC send the desired commands to the controller, it will drive the control circuit to control the motor and pump.
  • 12. RFID READER  A significant advantage of RFID devices than the others devices, RFID device does not require to positioned precisely relative to the scanner.  In this project, RFID is small electronic device that consist of a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less. Store the customer details in it.  The RFID devices will work within a few feet (up to 20 feet for high-frequency devices) of the scanner. The RFID tag used to read information about the customer through RFID Reader.
  • 13. INFRARED SENSOR  An infrared sensor is an electronic device, that emits in order to sense some aspects of the surroundings.  It is used to detect whether the user place the corresponding object to get the material or not.  If not means, it will send the signal to controller, material will not be distributed.  Here Thermal Sensor is used, its sensitivity independent of the wavelength being detected, it use infrared energy as heat.
  • 14. RELAY CIRCUIT When a current flows through the coil, the resulting magnetic field attracts an armature that is mechanically linked to a moving contact. It is used to control the two types of setup i.e. Servo Motor and Liquid Pump. A pulse is generated to control the motor once every 20 milliseconds, or at about 50 Hz. Servos take commands from a series of pulses sent from the computer or Controller. A pulse is a transition from low voltage to high voltage which stays high for a short time, and then returns to low.
  • 15. SERVO MOTOR  It is a kind of motor having servo drive circuit to control the turn position.  It is used to distribute the solid materials i.e. Rice, Sugar, Wheat, etc.  Input voltage as 4.8 – 6V.  These motors run on electricity from a battery and spin at high RPM (rotations per minute).  Deliver the product based on predefined time delay period properly.
  • 16. LIQUID PUMP  A submersible pump (or sub pump, electric submersible pump (ESP)) is a device, which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body.  The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped.  The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitations .
  • 17. LCD  16 Characters x 2 Lines  Works with almost any Microcontroller  In this project, it is used to display the commands passed by the PC to PIC controller  Initially it will display the text as “ Ration Shop”.  After selecting the Rice or Sugar it will display “Solid” & for selecting Kerosene it will display “Liquid” commands passed by the PIC microcontroller.
  • 18. GSM MODEM GSM (Global System for Mobile communications: originally from Group Special Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. A GSM modem is a specialized type of modem which accepts a SIM card, and operates over a subscription to a mobile operator, just like a mobile phone. It is used to send information about the product purchased and amount taken from account to the Phone number of the user registered in Smart Card. It will send the information only after the successful completion of product distribution.

Visual studio 2010  It is an IDE(Integrated Development Environment) used to create programs and applications for Windows and many other platforms.  It supports some built-in programming languages like C,C++,C# .  It included editor and debugger.  It include other built-in tools like, * A form designer, which is useful when building GUI applications. * A Web designer that creates dynamic Web pages. * A class designer that is used to create custom Libraries. * A schema designer for database support.

MPLAB IDE  MPLAB IDE software is a freeware Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which is used in Microprocessor and Micro-controller lab for the development of Embedded applications.  MPLAB supports project management, code editing, debugging and programming of Microchip 8-bit and 32- bit PIC Micro-controller.  High speed software simulator for PIC and dsPIC (Digital Signal Processing PIC(Microcontroller) devices with peripheral simulation and register logging.
  • 24. PICkit 3  PICkit 3 allows debugging and programming of PIC.  The PICkit 3 programmer/debugger is a simple, low-cost in-circuit debugger that is controlled by a PC running MPLAB IDE (v8.20 or greater) software on a Windows platform.  The debugger system executes code like an actual device because it uses a device with built-in emulation circuitry, instead of a special debugger chip.

  • 27. BENEFITS  Effectively distributing rations for peoples.  Reduced man power and man hour.  Better fault detection and better supply quality.  Time saving approach.
  • 28. LIMITATIONS & APPLICATIONS Limitations:  For demo purpose we are using less accuracy component in real time we can use better.  Initial cost is high.  Manual job is needed at the initial time of filling materials, it cannot be avoided. Applications:  Used in commercial buildings.  Used in more traffic areas
  • 29. FUTURE ENHANCEMENT  For better authentication of subscribers, a biometric system can be used.  The provision can be made such as PDA device will update data directly to server online.  For better understanding, an interface and website can be made available in different languages(regional languages).
  • 30. CONCLUSION Using this proposed modern system we can have Better management of the ration distribution system. The commission agent is only responsible for entering the quantity of the commodities, where as updating and deducting is solely handled by the server(food department). Govt. can have indirect check on the availability of the ration to the beneficiary. It is transparent and has control over prices of some commodities in the open market. Dealer will not be able to keep fake ration cards with them.
