The PMO will facilitate the project teams to identify gaps
and provision required resources and expertise.
The purpose of this paper is to stimulate discussion and
identify considerations for project management success.
Requirements for a lower level PMO are discussed in the
context of a hierarchy of PMOs.

Steering Committees and Project Sponsors for each
project are actively engaged
A hierarchy of PMOs is established, each with different
mandates
Ultimately reporting to an Enterprise PMO managed by a Project
Director-class role.
Is each PMO primarily reactive or proactive? Define the
authority delegated to the PMO
Establish and Communicate standards?
Enforce all / some of the standards?
Coach / mentor? Hire all PMs?

EPM tools will simplify and automate report generation.
A Hierarch of Status Reporting from Project to Enterprise
Must address Financials, Synergies, Time, Risk
Plus Client KPI
Retention, growth, customer satisfaction levels
Must also address People KPI
Overtime, sick days, disability, vacation taken versus banked.
R/Y/G - criteria must be objective to ensure accurate
reporting.

Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) must be

All three need to be tracked consistently and
independently.
Establish an Enterprise Change Management
process and Board
Business and IT must both approve IT impacting change.
Standard process to manage Risk, Issues, Change
must be defined and communicated.
Issues and Change may surface on their own.
