This document discusses a proposed study to evaluate a safe patient handling intervention protocol for orthopedic nurses. The study aims to reduce musculoskeletal injuries among healthcare providers by implementing a multi-component protocol including restricted manual lifting, mechanical lifting equipment training, and task-specific ergonomic assessments. The study will measure musculoskeletal injuries pre- and post-intervention to evaluate the effectiveness of the new protocol. It will also use questionnaires and focus groups to identify factors influencing adoption of safe patient handling programs. The combined qualitative and quantitative results will be used to recommend practice changes to reduce injuries and guide safe patient handling policies.
Patient-Centered Measures in Surgery and their Use in Alberta
This presentation summarizes research on patient-centered measures in surgery. It reviewed their use internationally and surveyed Alberta surgeons. The review found many jurisdictions collect PROMs and PREMs. The survey found only 34% of Alberta surgeons use PROMs and 20% use PREMs. Next steps are further analyzing their Alberta use and developing a plan with the Surgery SCN interest group to expand collection of these important patient-reported outcomes and experience measures.

Faculty facing either an initial nursing accreditation, or those preparing for a re-affirmation of accreditation visit, need to amass evidence demonstrating how the program is evaluated for achievement of program outcome using reliable and valid measurements. One of the most valuable resources of this evidence is a collection of student performance data from teacher-made and standardized exams used throughout the curriculum. How can faculty demonstrate that the exams they deliver to students are both reliable and valid? The purpose of this webinar is to discuss how faculty can incorporate assessment data and related analysis into their curriculum evaluation processes; establish that the teacher-made and standardized exams administered throughout the program are reliable and valid; and include assessment findings in the accreditation self-study that demonstrate compliance with nationally-recognized education standards in nursing.

This project implemented a food insecurity screening survey in a clinical setting serving low-income adults with diabetes. The goals were to improve provider and staff knowledge of food insecurity, standardize a screening protocol, and increase the number of patients screened and receiving nutrition counseling. After providing education to staff, the percentage of at-risk patients screened for food insecurity increased from 0% at baseline to over 70% after three months. Most screened patients were identified as food insecure. The project demonstrated how screening and addressing this social risk factor can help improve diabetes outcomes.

My Birth Control: Engaging Patients and Providers in Shared Decision-Making A...
MyBirthControl is an interactive tablet-based decision support tool created to promote a shared decision-making approach to birth control counseling that is rooted in patients' preferences. The tool, designed by the Program in Woman-Centered Contraception at UCSF in collaboration with Bedsider.org, is meant to be used by patients before a clinical visit, aimed to help people choose a birth control method that they are happy with. We have adapted MyBirthControl to meet the needs of patients in post-abortion and postpartum care settings, where additional information related to birth control in these specific clinical contexts is provided. Both versions emphasize that the tool is meant to help the user pick a birth control method ONLY if they want to. The goal of these adaptions is to promote patient-centered contraceptive counseling in these settings.
Pharmaceutical care and pharmacogenomics 2014
Pharmacists are well-positioned to play key roles in implementing clinical pharmacogenomics programs due to their expertise in pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, informatics, and patient care. The University of Florida Health Personalized Medicine Program piloted a genotype-guided clopidogrel therapy program led by a pharmacist. Over 1,000 patients were genotyped in the first year. Emerging essential pharmacist roles in the program included developing clinical decision support, ensuring medication safety, managing education and outreach, conducting research, and directly caring for patients. Supporting pharmacist-led clinical pharmacogenomics will require targeted education, training, and practice resources.

Abstract
Background and purpose: To assess impact of a pharmacist-led educational
intervention on family nurse practitioner (FNP) students’ prescribing skills, per-
ception of preparedness to prescribe, and perception of pharmacist as collabora-
tor.
Method: Prospective pre–post assessment of a 14-week educational interven-
tion in an FNP program in the spring semester of 2014. Students participated in
an online module of weekly patient cases and prescriptions emphasizing legal
requirements, prescription accuracy, and appropriate therapy. A pharmacist fa-
cilitator provided formative feedback on students’ submissions. Participants com-
pleted a matched assessment on prescription writing before and after the module,
and a retrospective postsurvey then presurvey to collect perceptions.
Conclusion: There was significant improvement in performance on error iden-
tification and demonstration of prescription.

The study would randomize over 1,000 patients and 30 nurses into groups testing a standard diabetes program versus a program utilizing TupeloLife's remote monitoring platform. The platform program would train nurses and allow real-time data collection from devices, remote consultations, automated reminders and alerts, and analytics to improve outcomes. The study aims to show improved clinical indicators, goal achievement, self-efficacy, satisfaction and cost-effectiveness for the remote platform program compared to standard care.

This document discusses a proposed study to evaluate a safe patient handling intervention protocol for orthopedic nurses. The study aims to reduce musculoskeletal injuries among healthcare providers by implementing a multi-component protocol including restricted manual lifting, mechanical lifting equipment training, and task-specific ergonomic assessments. The study will measure musculoskeletal injuries pre- and post-intervention to evaluate the effectiveness of the new protocol. It will also use questionnaires and focus groups to identify factors influencing adoption of safe patient handling programs. The combined qualitative and quantitative results will be used to recommend practice changes to reduce injuries and guide safe patient handling policies.
Patient-Centered Measures in Surgery and their Use in Alberta
This presentation summarizes research on patient-centered measures in surgery. It reviewed their use internationally and surveyed Alberta surgeons. The review found many jurisdictions collect PROMs and PREMs. The survey found only 34% of Alberta surgeons use PROMs and 20% use PREMs. Next steps are further analyzing their Alberta use and developing a plan with the Surgery SCN interest group to expand collection of these important patient-reported outcomes and experience measures.

How can faculty demonstrate that the exams they deliver to students are both reliable and valid? The purpose of this webinar is to discuss how faculty can incorporate assessment data and related analysis into their curriculum evaluation processes; establish that the teacher-made and standardized exams administered throughout the program are reliable and valid; and include assessment findings in the accreditation self-study that demonstrate compliance with nationally-recognized education standards in nursing.

This project implemented a food insecurity screening survey in a clinical setting serving low-income adults with diabetes. The goals were to improve provider and staff knowledge of food insecurity, standardize a screening protocol, and increase the number of patients screened and receiving nutrition counseling. After providing education to staff, the percentage of at-risk patients screened for food insecurity increased from 0% at baseline to over 70% after three months. Most screened patients were identified as food insecure. The project demonstrated how screening and addressing this social risk factor can help improve diabetes outcomes.

MyBirthControl is an interactive tablet-based decision support tool created to promote a shared decision-making approach to birth control counseling that is rooted in patients' preferences. The tool, designed by the Program in Woman-Centered Contraception at UCSF in collaboration with Bedsider.org, is meant to be used by patients before a clinical visit, aimed to help people choose a birth control method that they are happy with. We have adapted MyBirthControl to meet the needs of patients in post-abortion and postpartum care settings, where additional information related to birth control in these specific clinical contexts is provided. Both versions emphasize that the tool is meant to help the user pick a birth control method ONLY if they want to. The goal of these adaptions is to promote patient-centered contraceptive counseling in these settings.
Pharmaceutical care and pharmacogenomics 2014
Pharmacists are well-positioned to play key roles in implementing clinical pharmacogenomics programs due to their expertise in pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, informatics, and patient care. The University of Florida Health Personalized Medicine Program piloted a genotype-guided clopidogrel therapy program led by a pharmacist. Over 1,000 patients were genotyped in the first year. Emerging essential pharmacist roles in the program included developing clinical decision support, ensuring medication safety, managing education and outreach, conducting research, and directly caring for patients. Supporting pharmacist-led clinical pharmacogenomics will require targeted education, training, and practice resources.

Abstract
Background and purpose: To assess impact of a pharmacist-led educational
intervention on family nurse practitioner (FNP) students’ prescribing skills, per-
ception of preparedness to prescribe, and perception of pharmacist as collabora-
tor.
Method: Prospective pre–post assessment of a 14-week educational interven-
tion in an FNP program in the spring semester of 2014. Students participated in
an online module of weekly patient cases and prescriptions emphasizing legal
requirements, prescription accuracy, and appropriate therapy. A pharmacist fa-
cilitator provided formative feedback on students’ submissions. Participants com-
pleted a matched assessment on prescription writing before and after the module,
and a retrospective postsurvey then presurvey to collect perceptions.
Conclusion: There was significant improvement in performance on error iden-
tification and demonstration of prescription.

The study would randomize over 1,000 patients and 30 nurses into groups testing a standard diabetes program versus a program utilizing TupeloLife's remote monitoring platform. The platform program would train nurses and allow real-time data collection from devices, remote consultations, automated reminders and alerts, and analytics to improve outcomes. The study aims to show improved clinical indicators, goal achievement, self-efficacy, satisfaction and cost-effectiveness for the remote platform program compared to standard care.

1) Overall error rates were similar between medication nurses (15.7%) and general nurses (14.9%).
2) At one hospital, medication nurses had a significantly lower error rate than general nurses in surgical units but not medical units.
3) Differences in medication processes and settings highlighted the role of systems design in errors. The study suggests simple interventions may not reduce errors without broader system changes.

Given my examination, the best practice that rises out of the exploration I checked on is Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), whereby in a clinical setting, it is considered as a fundamental component for guaranteeing that patients are given quality care just as treatment services. EBP is viewed as reasonable just as meticulous use of clinical practices that depend on current evidence. Also, medical care experts, with the help of EBP, can settle on successful decisions in connection to medicinal services operations. EBP depends on various pieces of evidence that incorporate qualitative just as quantitative research, controlled preliminaries, case reports, expert opinion, and scientific standards.
In this specific case, the clinical practices dependent on EBP help with giving better care just as treatment benefits as per patient values alongside clinical aptitude (Forrest, 2008). EBP depends on evidence gathered from qualitative research. Consequently, the quantitative analysis assumes a significant role in collecting data about current practices to be effected for the improvement of clinical skills and in gathering the patient's values. The research examines that are ineffectively structured, and inadequate reporting is contended to influence quantitative analysis crosswise over various spheres that incorporate medicinal services, future research, decision making, and health policy. In such manner, distinguishing reporting rules including diagnosis test studies (STARD), observational studies (STROBE), meta-analyses of observational studies (MOOSE), consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) and randomized controlled trials (CONSORT) were used in these peer-reviewed articles.
Recognizing that clinicians have time constraints but then need to give the ideal care to their patients, the evidence-based methodology offers clinicians an advantageous technique for discovering current research to help in making clinical decisions, answer patient questions, and investigate alternative therapies, strategies, or materials. With a comprehension of how to viably use EBDM, professionals can rapidly and helpfully remain current with scientific discoveries on points that are essential to them and their patients.

Standardized care plans can be described as the pre-determined menu of interventions which are used for different patient situations (Monsen, Swenson & Kerr, 2016). Evidence-based care is the conscientious use of the most recent evidence to make decisions on the care of individual patients or in the delivery of health care services (Murdaugh, Parsons & Pender, 2018). The current best evidence is the most recent information which has been obtained from valid and relevant research about the effects of different types of healthcare, the accuracy of diagnostic tests, the potential for harm from exposure to different agents, or predictive power of prognostic factor (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). Standardized care plans form the main basis for the implementation of evidence-based care directly in practice and for the improvement of patient outcomes (Nussbaum et al., 2015; Yehuda & Hoge, 2016). A health care facility recently transitioned to the use of a new and better electronic health record system. The facility also purchased standardized care plans to increase efficiency in their operations. However, the compliance with using the standardized care plans was only 40 percent among the inpatient nurses. Accordingly, the facility recently had a visit from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and received a negative rating because the nurses were not adding care plans based on the patients' primary problem or diagnosis in the patients' charts upon admission. This presents several specific problems in the healthcare facility. There is poor compliance from the nurses concerning the addition of standardized care plans to the charts of patients based on their diagnosis or primary problem(s). The system which the facility invested in was not being used for the improvement of patient outcomes and quality of care delivered. The focus of this project is the failure of inpatient nurses to make use of standardized care plans. The gap in nursing is the failure of delivery of evidence-based practice using the standardized care plans which result in poor patient outcomes and quality of life. One of the areas of knowledge that has not yet been explored is the cause of low rates of adoption of standardized care plans by nurses. Another gap is the lack of studies on nurses’ perception of the standardized care plans and how they affect their use in .
Scheduling Of Nursing Staff in Hospitals - A Case Study
This document summarizes a study that developed a goal programming algorithm to schedule 11 nurses across a two-week period at a hospital. The goals were to satisfy each nurse's contracted time, ensure minimum nurse requirements by role each day, give full-time nurses a weekend off while avoiding more than two consecutive days off, and honor nurses' weekend preference when possible. Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
