This document discusses digital signal processing and some of its applications. Digital signal processing involves the analysis, interpretation, and manipulation of signals like sound, images, and sensor data. It has various applications including digital filtering, spectral analysis, speech processing, image processing, radar/sonar processing, and several medical applications such as MRI scans, X-rays, PET scans, ECG, and ultrasound. ECG is highlighted as an example where electrodes placed on the skin pick up raw electrical signals from the heart which are then filtered and interpreted on a screen to check heart rhythm and activity.
