Digital satellite television uses digital signal processing and transmission. It involves 4 stages: 1) encoding the signal, 2) processing through data compression, encryption and packetizing, 3) modulation, and 4) transmission from the satellite transmitter uplink to receivers. At receivers, the signal is then decoded.
