Digital Portfolios Made Easy in C&I at UNI

Over 1300 students at the University of Northern Iowa have created digital portfolios for their education programs. The portfolios begin in an education technology and design class, continue in a curriculum class, and are completed in a classroom management class. The portfolios are standards-indexed and standards-referenced.

- 2005 - Jean Schneider and Donna Douglas used HyperStudio to create digital portfolios. Slow, hard and frustrating at times.
- 2006 – Ed Media introduced using Google Sites to create online portfolios.
- Typically the way these portfolios are organized is in what we call “Standards Indexed” format. The notebook has six tabs and artifacts are placed behind the appropriate tab. The initial way for evaluators to identify whether or not all of the standards are equally addressed is for them to look at the notebook and see if they all are equally represented.
