Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
You could be a professional graphic designer and still make mistakes. There is always the possibility of human error. On the other hand if you’re not a designer, the chances of making some common graphic design mistakes are even higher. Because you don’t know what you don’t know. That’s where this blog comes in. To make your job easier and help you create better designs, we have put together a list of common graphic design mistakes that you need to avoid.

cartoonist, and animator. He can
expertly draw things from his
imagination. His works are very
detailed.
6. He is an illustrator and character designer. His art style
attracts me where his use of colour is very good.

8. I find Digital Illustration to be faster and more
convenient because of the use of tools and
shortcut keys. I often use the lasso tool to select an
area I want to paint to avoid painting outside the
area. Digital Illustration is fun because I can play
around with colours and different methods in my
artwork. With my skills I can create illustration for
book covers, t-shirts, posters and more.
Assignment 2 : Background Street Painting
9. In my class I drew portraits,
figures, and had many
practices in drawing lines.
We learnt to sharpen our
pencil, draw faces, figures,
as well as perspective
drawings. I really enjoyed
this class as drawing is my
interest. Using strokes and
tones correctly are
important to present the
object by representing the
direction, distance and size
of the object.
10. With understanding of the basics we can correctly present our ideas by drawing, and improving our observation skills. I am now
able to draw out my imagination or ideas. My strength in traditional drawing is in the control of the pencil to represent shadows
using gradients. I am also able to extend my drawing skills in 3D modelling, character design and much more.
11. We learned about using design elements like shapes to create artworks. This included basics of design
principles, colour, and design theory. Colours are important as they effectively represent the mood and
feeling. I believe this subject is important to learn so that we can present the right visual, feeling and meaning
to others through our artworks. Design is interesting as even the smallest element is able to convey a message
to audiences. From there we are able to come up with interesting concepts or design ideas for our clients.

12. I have learnt to create word and graphic animation, filter effects, and how to present a story through simple
animation. Through this subject, I know how to create a kinetic typography using type in motion. I enjoy to do
motion graphics because I can control the movement and the direction of words or graphics. I can use motion
graphics to realize my ideas in animated form. This is important for the industry because there are many people
using motion graphics in commercial videos, movies and many more.

13. These are some of my artwork I did during my free time. My main tools are pencil, colour pencil, and digital
illustration techniques. This is the first time I paint galaxy with colour pencils. I learned myself and explore
through internet to get some references about galaxy and start to paint it. I feel that painting galaxy is easy
because it just only use a few colours only. Just have to control the strength when u do the gradient of the
colour.
14. Colour pencil is my favourite art material to do painting. Since I was young, I start to use colour pencil to
paint and enjoy it. As I grew up, my painting skill is improve. I start to painting more difficult artwork and
make it more detail.
