This document discusses open badges, which are a web standard used to recognize skills and accomplishments. Open badges can capture skills gained through formal education, extracurricular activities, online learning, and professional development. Over 120 partners from around the world have issued over 300,000 open badges since 2012, with growth of 1400% in the last year. Examples are provided of how open badges are being used by organizations to recognize the accomplishments of digital leaders and respond to employer briefs.
