Here are definitions of the key terms in my own words: - Diffusion is the natural spreading or dispersal of particles from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration through random motion. No energy is needed for diffusion. - Equilibrium is a state where the concentration of a substance is evenly distributed throughout a space, so there is no longer a concentration gradient driving diffusion. - Osmosis is a specific type of diffusion, where water molecules diffuse through a semipermeable membrane from an area of higher water concentration to lower water concentration in order to reach equilibrium of water levels on both sides of the membrane.
